Scissor liftt

There is an engineering issue with lowering it. On the floor the force is distibuted radially out fromt the stand point across the entire floor . If you were to dig down 6 inches redo the concrete and put the lift in you are distributing the weight over a much samller area, basically the size of the pit you dug. If you are on the gravel bed underneath you might be okay but if there was any settling underneath it might go through the floor.
i might do this but would need to consult a civil or construction engineer.

I'm in for a group buy as well. But $1,700 CAD is too steep for me. Mid rise scissor lifts can be had for close to $1,000 in the US. I'd be happy to drive to Buffalo and pick one up to save a few hundred dollars.

Well I'm out. Just picked up crawler and a set of these: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...ml#post8193714
Next step will be build a bigger/higher garage, and get a proper lift

They look good. But what did the come to all-in? $900? Hmm. Cheaper than a mid-rise, but not buy much if you shop in the US. Really clever design though. I'm impressed, but on the fence

Cost me less, but I bought some "used" pre-production units. Not cheap by any stretch but yes, quite clever, but more importantly, safe and easy to use.

Have a look at this: http://liftbars.com/ They are for 928s but if there is enough demand, Ken will make it for other models too. I think they are a better alternative to the jack lift ones.

jackpoint jack stands
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0Sbl...er_profilepage
this is a direct link to our youtube video of an M3 being lifted onto the stand. The significance of this product and why it's so good and different from other stands is first, you put the jack stand in a factory Jack point while using a point to lift the car. Second, the cap connects in such a way with a factory lift point that it cannot slip once set in place. the base understand his oversized giving a great foundation And very good ground clearance. The stability of the car when lifted up on two or four of these jack stands is the best I have ever seen. My wife is even comfortable when I'm under the car, if you can believe that!
These are sold in pairs, and range from $289 - $369, less our member discount. If you have any questions please been free to PM me.

I must admit that is pretty cool , as it is a frustrating thing for me that on my A6 the only place to jack the car is where the jack stands should go . But i could put up with a lot of frustartion for over 300 bills US

Ice... just get a scissor lift - your back will thank you for it.
I had my back surgery almost 3 years ago - I'm as good as I'm ever going to get - 2 post hoist installed last July = best tool in the tool box next to very large compressor and air tools. Mine was 2k installed.
