I have 2 sets of manual sliders from my old Boxster, but they move the seat up almost 2". That puts my head unacceptably close to the roof. I wish I could try the Sabelt unit before buying. Anyone have one? How high off the mounts will the seat brackets be when installed?
My car would be so much safer without the passenger seat. Whatever happened to 'Safety First'?

As mentioned before, the pin-style sliders used in GT3 Cup cars are the same as the manual sliders shipped in Boxsters and water-cooled 911 production/street cars. Readily available in excellent condition from many dismantlers and places like E-Bay for $100-150.
The sliders have some features that protrude downward for mounting as stock in GT3 Cups, Boxsters and water-cooled 911 street cars. So they are not flat like the conventional double-locking Recaro, Sparco and Sabelt sliders. These features can easily be removed for mounting in other types of cars. Once removed, the pin-style sliders are still a little taller than the others, but not much. If I recall correctly, somewhere in the vicinity of 1/2-3/4 inches.

IIRC, because of the pins in the Cup sliders, you can't bolt them directly to the floor, event if you straighten out the tab at the front that is meant to conform to the stock seat mounts. The pins I think protrude below the slider body, and as a result the slider has to be mounted so that the middle of the slider is supported above the floor of the tub. This is from memory when we were looking at putting in different sliders into my car. If someone can post a side-view of the Cup sliders, it might help us all.

You are correct, Mike. The pins pushing through the bottom are the problem with using those in my case.
My current sliders are mounted to the floor, but the extra height of the Boxster sliders plus the pins push them up too high. I am going to look again tonight. I think the pins move up and down when the lever is pulled, otherwise I would just drill out the floor board to make room for the pins.

That's a stupid thought, remember, "it's not the cars, it's the people".. you know, the people that think passenger seats are a good idea.
