With LH, I cannot remember a driving controversy vs. Schumacher's record (crashing into Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, the barrier at Monaco to get pole). He's a very special driver and will race his opponents hard but fair. Was also willing to give back a position when it was agreed (Hungary a couple of years ago).

Just caught up on the race. Incredible drive by Hamilton. Undoubtedly one of the very best of all time.

Incredible drive? Were we watching the same race?

The one where he started 6th in the rain, had a great start, ran the field down, out judged his team director, and brought it home in the wet on tires far more worn than everyone else to win the championship tying the record for most ever? That's a pretty good day at the office.

Since retiring, Sanders wrote co-authored a book — Barry Sanders: Now You See Him … His Story in His Own Words — in which he made it pretty clear that he retiredbecause he was losing interest in playing for a franchise that didn't put a winning team on the field

Schumacher certainly had stiffer competition = a car that was no where near as dominant even with preferential tires.

No, not me....but I bet 1/4 of the drivers in the field would have a similar season to Hamilton in the same car.

One of my fantasies is to see a season of F1 where all of the drivers are in the same spec car, with tire pressures and balance being the only adjustments allowed to the car. In that scenario, I don't think any driver would dominate the wins, and the points differences between the top drivers would be small. I'd give Lewis maybe a 25-50% chance of winning WDC, which is a lot less than 100%, but a lot more than 5% (1/20). That races would also be a LOT more enjoyable because it would finally be a competition primarily between drivers rather than engineers.
