My First 944spec race with NASA in two weeks!
Well ive been on rennlist for along time now but just in the last few years been reading the racing forums. I started tracking my first 944 in 2005 after autocrossing for a couple years and was hooked. Ive since worked my way up from PCA D group to A group and then took my instructors class and have been instructing a couple years with PCA. In 2009 some friends and I built a 944 to race in 24hoursoflemons and after getting the curse, raced with Chumpcar for a couple more years. Last year i sold the Chumpcar "the Dragon" as well as my 944 turbo and started building my 944spec car. I love spec because it fits my budget and ive had so many different 944's that im very familiar with them, i have lots of spare parts and i am most comfortable driving them. Its taken awhile to get my car where i wanted it, taken it to Nelson Ledges once and Mid Ohio this spring and she has run great both times, just making some adjustments and shaking her down. Finally i signed up for my race license class and race weekend this August 10-12th at my home track Mid Ohio. Cant wait to do it but a little nervous about the prospect of finding out how i stack up in a field of cars matched to mine. There will be quite a few cars at this event since its a crossover and a few friends of mine who race will be there with me. Wish me luck!
a few pics - just after my first time on the track at Putnam park, a few years later in my turbo B group Mid Ohio, the "Dragon" on track at 24hrs at VIR, Nelson Ledges this year in my spec car and as she currently sits....

ha Jim Child, my first instructor at mid ohio- in the rain! Im sliding sideways ,back and forth through the left hander after thunder valley, hands flying to catch the wheel each way and he's going "its fine, you got it, see told ya". Ive learned a thing or two since then, one was smooth inputs.

I'm really looking forward to this event - big turnout, 2 new guys through comp school, and one of the best tracks in the world!
You are moving into one of the most competitive regions in the nation, but also one for the most open. No matter how fast you start out, we'll help you get faster. Welcome aboard, it going to be a great ride .
That car is spectacular - turned out really well!

See you there. Look for the bastard gray and orange 944CTSV in ST2 and TTS.
Come by the Disaster Team motorhome for a beer.
Good luck, rennlisters will be watching from the hill.
