Default 968 Turbo vs. E46M3 at Pacific Raceways

I had so much fun this past weekend that I just had to share it. I had a race long duel with a friend/rival in his M3. The class win wasn't decided until the last foot. It was a blast!

The first half:

My camera turned off so the last part is from the M3:

This is the V8 M3 yes? Nice going Eric and fun to watch. Interesting track too. Are you guys on similar tyres? Looks like you're running about 15psi yes?

That was great! That track looks like fun (definitely beautiful), though unforgiving with the hillsides.

I'm pretty sure that the M3 is 295 WHP and 2950#, the class is restricted to 10#/HP. These 2 guys left the rest of us in the dust to play by ourselves.

10#/hp? What class, organization is this?

I was assuming it was NASA, but guess not.

It is a class called Sport Touring running with the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs aka Conference. It is a 14 race championship run on 5 tracks in the Pacific NW.

The M3 has an S54 engine with just short of 300rwhp. I'm running 290rwhp @ 14.5 psi.

For a few years, most of my battles have been with the S54 powered e46,and before , with the e36 euro. 320 hp rated 285 rwhp, and the S54 rated at 333hp.(300-359rwhp depending on the mods )

we had great races. the m3 was ligher and i had slightly more power at 320rwhp, and later 370rwhp to compete with the S54 motor with all the PTG mods.

Its how racing should be. trade offs. both had advantages in some areas of the track and some might dominate at a particular track vs others.

nice shots.

Close racing for sure. That's some track, looks like it was carved out of a forest. Better not go off in some of the wooded area's.

Great Stuff! Nicely set up finish. Beautiful track that looks like a lot of fun, if a bit dangerous.

Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations Eric!! That was a lot of fun to watch. It seemed like your car was a bit stronger in the area of the start finish line right where you needed it! It seemed like you maybe had better gearing for the long straight section?
