ASK THE COACH
#1501
Not sure if this is the right place for this question or not, but I figured I would give it a shot. I am using an AIM data system and hoping to add a SC HD in the near future. I also use a chatterbox 2 when getting instruction. is there any way to input the intercom communication into the sound on the video? it seems that during an event like the andy lally event at TWS, it would be great to hear the narrative that went on during some of the drive alongs. also having either instruction or a personal running commentary voiced onto the video. anyone done this or considered it??

And I have Matt to thank for getting that thinking started.

as always, thanks guys. i always know i can find the answer here!
edit…..bummer, the item states it doesn't work the the SC HD
i agree that this is an extremely handy feature. never quite understand when a product is "upgraded" and loses some capability?

Sorry guys. The I/O Port device works great with the original SC, but NOT the SC HD. No external input for microphone, yet.

oops, i edited my reply above before refreshing the page…
another AIM question. my instructor set up my Gdash to show lap time and predictive lap time. however, the predictive never seemed to work for either of us. it would just update with the current lap time once crossing start/finish. what do i need to do to get predictive working correctly? (evo4/Gdash)

Remember, these also generate log files with GPS data (lat/long, speed, lap timing, track map) that can be opened in RS2. A standalone logger with video!
Of course, they can be used as a slave to the Solo DL, EVO3 or 4 and MXL, too.
The new HD does NOT do this (generate .drk files on it's own).

That's the key. Set up a "Custom" display page and then from the drop down menu, you select what you want to see. I like +/- off best lap.
I'll bet your instructor didn't push the "Transmit" button to save the changes...

But from what I have seen, it could still take awhile.
Jerry, Peter, and other retailers - would be great if you could encourage the. I can't use my Chatterbox/Smarty interface to work until they (and even then will need new connectors). I'll especially need it as I learn my way with the new Cayman.

onto a new question if that's sorted ... here are 2 laps from 2 different sessions ... at the same time
I've just broken my best time by 0.7s and been trying to work out exactly how!?
Sadly didn't get the data from that session due to memory constraints
... i.e. I forgot my computer and been away so can't revisit until after the last race of the season next week
So I've side/sided my last (not particularly fast; about .3 slower than best until now) race
and this faster practice to review the differences.
Obviously the new shifter helps - note shift speeds (altho slower on the down shifts)
.. and lines seems pretty much the same
but I def seem to be actually rotating (drifting? bending?) the car in the 3 or 4 of the corners
... allowing for an earlier/straighter acceleration out - do you see anything else?
ps - these are the same tires, but obviously now much older in the Nov laps - did that help? (perverse if so)
Neat to hear the engine harmonising with itself
