Default Testing at Thunderhill

We had quite a day of testing yesterday at Thunderhill.

I went to check out my new gearing and figured while I was there i would video tape and time a bunch of changes that have been talked about on the list.

1st test- lighter wheels:
We ran the lighter set of rims (3lbs lighter each and 17s vs 18s and same hoosier R6s) and I was amazed, the times were .8 second faster per lap after 5 laps

2nd test: wing settings and GF
I changed my wing setting to 5 degrees more Angle of attack. my times didnt change much, but the car was more pushy. Then, I put on the Gurney flap and put the wing to my normal settings , and get this, 1 second a lap savings.
It wasnt as pushy for some reason and 10mph faster down the main straight!

3rd test: suspension set up
I then changed my toe in up front by 1/8" to be slightly toed out, and picked up almost 2 seconds a lap.

4th test: driving line to early apex
I then took a few laps where i used the early apex technique, and didnt realize how much time it takes to take a narrower line. I lost 3 seconds a lap, and i was off track on the exits about half the turns. it was really tough to control the car.

so, i think the testing was good. certainly all the data will help with next weekend's race with the American V8 supercar series and SCCA ITE.

Based on what you wrote previously, the Gurney flap should have given similar downforce numbers with "40%" more drag. How do you explain your results? That should be impossible based on the facts your presented previously.

As any of us, besides you, would expect.....

April fools haha, we all know 928's don't need any testing. They are the fastest and the pinnacle of Porsche technology.

sad thing is, even though he tried to throw out some crazy time gains. They weren't crazy enough for Kibort, I almost fully believed that he would throw out these numbers as fact.

He was posting on here all day yesterday so I knew he wasn't at Thunderhill. On top of that, he is never wrong so his post HAD to be a joke.
