You are right, once I set bar in place I mark it on each side of fire wall then cut the pipe. Then install a plate on both side of fire wall and weld in strut tower brace. I will post picture of fished install on Monday.

That's pretty smart, I think I'm going to steal the idea

So you butt it either side of the firewall and that circumvents the rules?

Also on the cleaning aspect of the cars, I have heard dry ice works very well. You put it on the area for X minutes and then the insulation just cracks off with a chisel or something similar. I've even heard someone suggest liquid Nitrogen.

Oh, and congrats on the progress of this build Sloan. Very speedy!

I was very impressed when I saw how well the steam cleaning did the job.
Here's a closer view. And I still have the factory paint left on the car

Tack both plates first then turn up the heat to around 3/4 and lower your wire speed to around 10 this will fuse all three together making it one. Start your weld on the plate then move to the sheet mettle do about an inch then move to another spot so let it cool, it could burn though if you stay in one spot.

Default finished pic's of strut tower bracing to cage

Sloan sent me these pictures today showing the finished bracing work to the strut towers. As you can see he is relocating the battery.

Totally awesome build. Looks like I need to go visit Sloan and see the car in person. Looking forward to seeing the car on the track at the Chin event at VIR.

Looks like that oil pan may have some of Jon's mods. It has been 10 years since I have seen one, but I think I can see some mods.

Good luck with the project.

Thanks. I think your right, it definitely has had some work.
I know Sloan worked on installing the baffle today. Maybe some pictures to follow tomorrow from Sloan
