I think the recent improvement in the Ferrari can be largely attributed to the hiring of an ex McLaren aerodynamicist towards the middle of this season (when it was obvious they were going nowhere), followed by the Ferrari engine being on par with the Mercedes engine, thanks to some reliability improvements.
It is a bit ironic how entangled Ferrari and McLaren have become in recent years...the legacy of Stepney I suppose.
Newey is sort of stuck with his engine choices, the Renault packages well, but it is clearly down on power (as previous reports have claimed up to 50hp), since IIRC, Renault has not asked for any "reliability improvements" and consequently it has shown.

Ferrari were lost with their 2010 car development (you might recall rumblings about how bad the car was preseason in the aero department), early developments were not successful (remember their first "automatic" F duct?), especially when compared to McLaren (who can always be counted on to show their development skills as the season progresses) and RBR (there is Newey...and then there is everyone else), hence their hiring of the new employee and the sudden improvement in the car.
Combine that with some engine "reliability improvements" and you have the story behind Ferrari today.
As for Alonso, I find it impossible to support someone who is completely devoid of personal character, integrity and personal responsibility (re: the Stepney affair, Singapore "strategy", etc) , no matter what skills as a driver he may possess.
As for Luca, he has the money (from sponsor and Ferrari0) and FIA/FOM influence to help him get out of the mess he quickly found himself in this season.
As long as Alonso drives for Ferrari, I hope they never win another World Championship.

Voted for Webber. I hope that RB gets the start correct. Even if Seb gets in front I think his engine troubles will reappear. If Stephano Domenicali has a poor season, again, Luca may pull the trigger on a replacement.

Myopia runs deep in the Alonso camp. Both Alonso and Ferrari have shot their wad for the year at Monza. The remaining tracks favor Red Bull.
For the record Wayne, I picked Hamilton for 2010 WDC.... look it up, but it's looking like the Webber show lately.
Rennlist loyalists, I have a question. How many pages of Wayne crap would we have had to wade through had Webber had the mysterious, "Down on Power" problem that Vettel had in Monza and allow Webber to pass him.... only to be back on pace the next lap and the rest of the race. BTW, Vettel was on a new engine and Webber was on the Spa engine. hummmmmmmmm.
Ferrari should take notes on how to execute team orders from Red Bull.
So does that make Webber a faux WDC should he win?
So many question....
