By what measure?

Race 1

Race 2
- Alonso beat Massa in qualy
- Massa beat Alonso in race

Race 3
- Alonso beat Massa in qualy (but let's be honest with the rain they both sucked)
- Massa beat Alonso in race (Alonso had car problems)

I'd give a very slight performance edge to Alonso, but "completely outperformed? Not even close....

I guess you forgot lap times and fastest laps. I guess, it will all be clear in time.

How about taking it from someone that might know a little bit more than any of us....
http://formula-one.speedtv.com/artic...or-2010-title/

Asked to nominate his favorite to win the 2010 world championship, Nelson Piquet Jr. said he would bet money on Fernando Alonso.

In the wake of last year's 'crashgate' scandal, the former Renault driver is now building a stock car career in America.

He has also raced stock cars in Brazil, and later this year will return to a European track when he drives a Ferrari 430 in the Open GT race at Barcelona.

In between stints in a Brazilian stock car last weekend, the 24-year-old Brazilian told Globo: "I cannot say that I will never return to Formula One."

Piquet said he rates Alonso for the 2010 title after spending the 28 races of his entire F1 career as the Spaniard's teammate.

"He was such a good driver that, to try to get to his level, I had to push myself in ways I did not know even existed," he said.
Regards.

Somehow I don't value Piquet's opinion on this matter ...

I didn't forget any of that which is why I'd give Alonso the edge. Sorry, but When I think of "completely outperfomed" I think Alonso over Piquet, but it's just not there with Alonso and Massa. Maybe in time, or maybe Massa will grow stonger as he seemed to over time with Kimi.

Time will tell, but at this point "completely outperformed" just doesn't hold any water.

Back to the active ride height control speculation on the Red Bull cars, here in Japan the motorsport mags are all over it -- here is a picture of one article I saw at the track today.

...and what happened to wheel tethers?

BTW, did any of you see Buemi's STR's front suspension disintegrate during braking on the back straight? Poor guy was still trying to steer the car when the wheels were long one...

What would they be tethered to after that amount of damage?

Interesting video, it looks like at the point of braking, the car was going over some undulations in the track surface.
Perhaps it was a harmonically driven event, since it appeared to coincide with one of the suspension movements under full braking over a track 'bump'.

It's been said that Newey leaves little to no margin in the design of his parts; lightness and aero rule in his world.

As for the photo in the Japanese article, that is very intriguing. Perhaps it's driven by aero and how/where the fuel is burned off in the car? I wouldn't put something like that past Newey.

During the Speed coverage of practice 2 they indicated that these suspension pieces were recently put on the car from a new batch of parts. They are investigating the new parts and have put parts from an older batch back on the car.

Shut up! How dare you put the actual stats up and compare them?
You stupid Kimi fan or Alonso hater...

So this is what long term exposure to Sir A.Wayne does to people ... not a pretty picture.

Does Dr. Kevorkian do group buys ?

It is indeed amazing to watch both front wheels exit stage left/right at the same time. I'm sure his eyes got just a little bit wider at that moment.

Just what are we looking at in that picture on the cover of the Jap mag? I mean apart from a white line...
