Will Porsche promote the 9 car if it wins?

Depends on what the new owners have to say after they see an independent shop without any factory assistance accomplish what their own in house department couldn't.

I see a legal battle happening. That windshield header banner is so off the mark. Looks nothing like the proper use of their logo. No way they can use that in an ad.

Very interesting question, although I believe the technical name they settled on was "Cayenne Based Porsche V8." If they are smart they will congratulate the team and Lozano Bros for a great achievement, kind of reminds me of the Kremer-Porsche win in mid '90's after they withdrew the "factory" entry. The irony makes me grin.

on the raw feed to speedtv (off air), the producer suggested to bob varsha to note this was the first back-to-back porsche win since al holbert. bob varsha said he didn't think it was appropriate because the factory did not support the engine development....but i think he then mentioned something about it in the broadcast.

The 1995 winner of the Daytona 24 hours was an independent Porsche 935/76 F6 TurboLM WSC entered by Kremer Racing and driven by Giovanni Lavaggi, Jürgen Lässig, Marco Werner and Christophe Bouchut.
How was this win different? And to suggest that this was a Cayenne engine is a bit of a farce. It was originally designed for racing as a V8, then repurposed for use in the Cayenne.

Whilst I am not sure what Porsche is thinking in this case, it seems they did not promote last year's Brumos win that much anyway?
But maybe they did and I just didn't see it.

So though Porsche designed it and is using it in their Cayennes (and now Panameras too) it is not basically a Cayenne motor? So whose block, heads, crank etc is it?

IMO Porsche has a rich history of independent/private teams who use the platform as a base then modify as they see fit. The fact they ran a clean, drama-free race was the key to their success.
3-Cheers, for me it re-kindled what sports car racing is all about.
