FIA requests meeting with Renault over cheating claims
04 September 2009
Formula One governing body the FIA has called upon Renault to attend a hearing with the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in Paris regarding the conspiracy which says that the team instructed Nelson Piquet to crash in order to help team-mate Fernando Alonso to victory in last year's Singapore Grand Prix.
Lap 1: Alonso starts the race from 15th position on the grid
News of the claims first appeared in the aftermath of the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday when an FIA spokesperson revealed that a case, involving Renault and claims surrounding a deliberate crash, were being investigated from one of last year's races.
The 2008 Singapore Grand Prix saw Nelson Piquet Junior's accident bring out the Safety Car mid-race; with team-mate Fernando Alonso having already pitted, the Spaniard emerged ahead of the field and leading the race once those originally at the front had come in.
Lap 14: Piquet crashes, resulting in the instant deployment of the Safety Car
It is believed that the FIA interviewed key members all teams at Spa last weekend in a quest to find anymore evidence or opinion surrounding the issue. It is also rumoured that Felipe Massa confronted Renault Team Principal Flavio Briatore after the race in Singapore last year, as the Brazilian's evening was ruined when a rushed pit-stop for Ferrari under the Safety Car period in question resulted in a mistake which cost the championship contender the lead and any chance of a points finish.
Lap 61: Alonso and Renault win for the first time in 2008
'Representatives of ING Renault F1 have been requested to appear before an extraordinary meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on Monday, 21 September 2009,' the FIA's Friday statement reads, calling Renault to the WMSC the Monday before this year's night race.
'The team representatives have been called to answer charges, including a breach of Article 151c of the International Sporting Code, that the team conspired with its driver, Nelson Piquet Jr, to cause a deliberate crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix with the aim of causing the deployment of the safety car to the advantage of its other driver, Fernando Alonso.'

I was thinking the same thing, but "It's never my fault".
"Lewis was supposed to let me by in Q2, but he didn't so I held him up in pit lane so he couldn't get another lap in in Q3."
"De la Rosa" gave me these specs and set up numbers."
I didn't use these numbers from the stolen Ferrari secrets.
Oh, you've got proof that De la Rosa and I were texting each other back and forth on Ferrari's secrets? Okay, tell you what, can we cut a deal? I'll give you the head of Ron Dennis, he made me do it.
Pinquet crashed? What's new?
Oh, he was ordered to crash? I didn't know anything about it. Talk to my boss, Flava Flav...
See ya, Renault, I'm going to Ferrari... good luck with that FIA investigation

Yes for sure , it was devastating when Alonso parked his car during qualy at Monaco blocking the track or had all of his WDC points taken from him when he tried to kill JV or when he stole his first WDC pushing Hill into the wall or when he pulled Barrichello up on to the top step of the podium after forcing him to move over.... or ordered to report to work when he pretended his leg was still Broken while receiving fraudulent ins monies while out playing soccer or trying to run from the scene of an accident after hitting a pedestrian ..
Ohhh Snap that was Stoolmacher ....

Ohh, snap, defensive A. Wayne!!! Haven't seen that one in a while.
Don't worry, Golden Spoon, er, I mean Golden Shoes won't be affected. No one can prove anything. It's not like he came on the radio and ordered Piquet to crash or anything...

Damn, this thread picked up speed quickly.... And we're off...
Talk about team orders
"Ahh, Nelsihno, please allow yourself to be impaled into the wall so that Miss Alonso can savor his first race win of the year. You know that his ego is fragile and needs this or all our lives will be a living nightmare. Thank you for your support of our #1 driver." Sincerely, Pat Symonds
