This question actually has some track relevance, since connectivity lets me be at the track without guilt.
Its time to consider replacing the Blackberry (which is on AT&T), and I am considering the iPhone. They sure have pretty screens, but otherwise I don't have Apple lust or need to appear cool (stop laughing; I've never been cool and its way too late to start).
I also don't particularly value cameras or tunes on my phone; I do value its use as a cellphone and for email, and would like better Internet access than my BBerry Curve gives me. Being able to use it outside the U.S. is important, too.
What would you do? I'm OK with the 'but you're stuck with AT&T unless you hack the phone' problem.

I love my iPhone. Even though its an Apple product, and subject to their particularly strange view of how they think people want things to work, it does work great. It syncs perfectly with Outlook, and provides a tremendous amount of information right in your hand. It will display pps, doc & xls files too. I waited to see how the Storm came out, and then bought the iPhone the next week.

BB is always coming out with new phones. I personally like my curve 8900 with tmobile (probably the worst company as far as phones go lol). internet access for me is fine and if you don't like the browser then try downloading opera mini as an application.

Iphone hands down. I also am not an apple skank-***** like many on rennlist. I do not use their normal computers.
But the Iphone is a breath of fresh air. It is programmed properly with no holes in its user experience. It just... works.

I get mad as hell at my iPhone from time to time, but everytime I look at something else, I conclude that it is the best option for now. I wish something non-Apple would come out that would work better, or at least as well.

Phone quality on an iphone is perfect for me. And the other one I bought for my wife. Clear, good connections - no issues. I suppose this is geographic.
Emails - you can send and recieve emails in an outlook like setting and a wide or skinny keyboard without irritating little black move able keys.

Like others, I'm a PC guy but love my iPhone. I'm not sure it's keyboard is the thing if you routinely type looong e-mails. Otherwise it beats my previous smartphone in every which way. And (for now anyway) you can hack it and tether your laptop for mobile internet access that works really well. Not that I would do such a thing or reccomend anybody else to do it, either.
Cheers

I've got the BB, but would go with an iphone in a second if it wasn't serviced by AT&T. Horrible deadspots. Can't wait 'til the iPhone is available on Verizon

This is why the wife and I are on GSM (T-mobile). No hardware or SIM card changes are necessary to stay in touch. She was getting e-mail on her BB Curve while atop a glacier in Iceland.
My next phone will probably be a T-mobile smart phone, which runs Android.
