Reasonably good until you hit standing water; then you will have a handful. I would not recommend them as daily drivers if you live in a wet clime.

Jack, I'm still surprised that the tires do well at that low of pressure. Have you checked hot temps on the tires?

Another data point on the NT01s.

I run my 951 at 2650lbs w/o driver between 41 - 42 hot. That seems to be the sweet spot with my setup.

I'm running 275/315's x 17 currently.

And... I love the tires for the money and their great wear characteristics.

That is funny you run the tires at that high of a pressure. We run them at about 36 PSI hot on a 2700lb car with driver on the 235/40/17 sizes. Anything over that and the tires seemed to lack grip.

Yeah, PomadeBoy told me ~2 pounds lower than RA1's is optimal.

The car feels better run with more pressure. And they don't get greasy. Very consistent start to finish on over say 15 laps at WSIR.

I think that goes to show the differences in cars and driving styles. On all the BMWs and Porsches we have ran these tires or the R888s on don't like having the tire pressures that high. Grip goes down dramatically and the lap times with it. Also on the data it shows up as the car generates more lateral g's according to our Motec info. The World Challenge cars really don't like the pressures that high. 40 PSI hot was about 1 second slower on those cars. that is why it is intersting to see the differences in what works for some doesn't always work for others. And that is why information on the internet is more of a starting point than necessarily the bible.

not to mention differences in tire gauges...i've seen up to 5 psi differences in gauges on several occasions...figure out what pressures work for you and don't try to stay consistent with the gauge(s) you use (unless you are sure they read the same)...

another quick data point.
ran one 25 minute run group this weekend on new NT01s
Car = 3500 pound 993 C4S, pretty much stock.
Track = Fontana inside + the nascar bowl.
275 - 35 X 18 rear
235 - 40 X 18 front

The car felt faster with the ability to drive "the slip" more effectively than I'd ever felt previously.
but
i was 3 seconds a lap faster with my well-worn Yoko AD07's ??????
tire pressures hot = 40 rear, 38 front.

at my rookie driving level their are too many factors and inconsistencies to just point at the tires as the primary difference between the lap times.

more details as i drive more events.

cheers

Craig

I ran the nittos (255/40-17's) for practice, qualifying and the enduro at Barber with PBOC. I ran the tires at 34 hot on a 2550lb car and was not impressed at all. Grip was just not there. Will try them again at my next DE and play with pressures but at this point I am not sold on them. The R888's that I ran last year (235/45-15's) felt like they had much more grip.

Up the NT01 pressures, Tim.

Will try but won't hold my breath. R6's, hankooks, and r888's all seem to work well on my car at that pressure.

That's what Nitto said when I asked them.
