I forgot to mention that I had my trailer floor raised so that I can open my doors over the wheel wells. I can drive my car into my trailer without using a winch or going through the window. I highly recommend measuring the distance you need and have the ATC engineers raise the floor.

I don't have a problem climbing out the windows of the various weapons in the fleet...so I just don't "get" the side escape door. BUT...I can't imagine an enclosed trailer without a curb-side door in the front. You will hate yourself if you don't get that forward door. Will they actually build a trailer without a side door ? Really ? Double-really ?

It's only 24', so no room for an ATV and I'll probably go with a pit bicycle instead of a motor bike. The Duc and the 'Priller probably need to leave the fold to make some room and free some cash. (I know. The first rule of Ducati ownership is to never sell a Ducati. The second rule is to follow the first rule.)
My old 24' trailer had room for forward cabinets, an ATV AND the biggest bastard in the race fleet (noisy V8 thing). Could still get a gas grill, tiki lights and other important stuff in there, too. Carefully load a 24' and you won't believe how much crap you can stuff in there. I've never sold a Duc...have 4...# isn't shrinking...several Norton Commandos, too...I really need to keep away from bikes....

An electric tongue jack? Really? On a 24' trailer? I'm too young for that.
Oh, the foolishness of youth !!! Get the electric tongue jack. You will then owe me n+1 beers the next time we cross paths (n = # of times you use electric tongue jack and think "Der Perfessor wasn't ****ten about this!!!"). I won't need to buy a beer in your presence for YEARS.

Chris,

Buy a winch (Superwinch 4000 for instance) and don't worry about the side door. If you have a side door it eliminates some wall space that you may want. Buy the large axles with the large tires, they can carry more load and will be better in the long run.

I echo Sean's comments that there are great deals out there. Also, a Featherlight is an awesome trailer, I highly recommend them.

David:

Put up a few shoring beams and then you can hang a hammock between them for some RR or you can get a blow up mattress and sleep on the floor. I have a single AC in my 30' but will be adding a second at the rear as I like to hang meat. The only thing I miss as it relates to camping is a shower and I will have that sorted by 09.

Chris, did you mean to say no side door? This is from your spec sheet:

"36" SIDE DOOR - 405 SERIES"

It also specs a step for that door.

My imprecise language. It has a curb-side door front right. It does not have a second escape door in the right wall to help exit the car. Sorry about saying it so wrong.

The fellow at ATC I talked with (several times and at some length) discouraged the electric tongue jack as unnecessary. Herr Professor and banzaisan, why do you like it so much?

The ATC fellow also discouraged L-shaped cabinets and a generator box for a 24' trailer. He thought they took up too much space. He did suggest the exterior plug and 25' shore cord so that the generator can sit outside away from the door.

I need a tow vehicle too (this is an expensive endeavor), and have settled on a F-250 crew cab short bed with single rear wheels. I'd like to find a nice 7.3 liter diesel but I might have to buy a 6.4 liter if I cannot find the older one.

Chris,

Remember your will have cabinets in the front of your trailer which adds tongue weight. With the electric jack, you push a button and it lift up and down with ease. I could never image using a crank to raise and lower the trailer.

The electric jack also gives you a light so you can see at night.

No real need for nitrogen tanks unless you are using it for jacks. Otherwise fill your tires and a portable tank to take with you to save towing another 80 pounds.

Got it. And that, along with a winch, should do it.

Chris, buy the electric jack. Cranking the front with 1000 lbs of tongue weight gets old fast.

+1000. I paddock with Dave, and have used his trailer/pulled it many times. Electric is the way to go. A trailer of that weight is a PITA to crank manually.

There are some smokin deals on used trailers out there. I just found a 1 year old aluminum 20' enclosed with lots of add-ons for under 10K (over 18K to get the same setup new right now) that I am seriously considering.

I also recommend Rezner Trailer in Duncan OK. I purchased mine through them and got an early build date and it came BEFORE the promised finished date! If you buy new don't buy directly from the factory- Rezner will give you a much better deal. Bob Rezner is great to deal with and has helped us with a few things after the sale.
Get the aluminum floor- no wood! Also finish off the inside walls with the white paneling- worth its weight in gold and brightens up the inside. I had electric outlets put in with a electric box on the front with a big extension cord that either plugs into external power source or the EU2000 Honda generator we carry.
We've had ours for 3 years now and love it. If I ever needed a bigger trailer I'd get anotherr ATC- Featherlite are made here in Iowa but they wanted more for shipping than ATC! And they were not nearly as flexible with mods, or at least weren't when we were shopping. (BTW, ours is a 22' with the 4' V nose) We pulled it with our Cayenne S before getting a F250...

I think the refrigerator is your trailer's best "special" feature, imo.

So Christian, how are you going to solve the shower problem? Oh, and that tape worked like a champ; thanks!

I've seen quite a few guys camp, so it seems like a popular option, even w/ guys where hotel cost isn't a concern. Nort Northam said he's always camped, and enjoys the camraderie of being at the track. I would imagine you'd be stuck, not being able to get out for dinner once the gates close though.

One cool setup for heat was a space heater pointed up at the ac unit which disperced the heat through the trailer.
