Did Dell say something he shouldn't have?
(By the way Dell - what exactly is an *** clown? I have heard about them, but have yet to actually see one...)

jrgordonsenior,
I have no clue and wondered myself. I noticed the E-bay ad pics show a name on the back of the device. I can't make out all the letters. Perhaps someone here can. It definitely noes not say hans nor use their typical script/font.
I have read that HANS or hans (caps or smalls) is a registered trademark, and if so, should not be allowed as used in the E-bay ad title as it is currently written.
I noticed the seller's E-bay store indictates it sells replica (F1) helmets....great... replica helmets and replica HANS devices.

The HANS in those pictures doesn't look anything like mine. The padding is wrong. It looks to be missing the SFI sticker, serial #, etc. The tethers on mine have HANS and SFI logos on them. You'd think someone willing to try to pass a fake HANS wouldn't balk at adding those to make it seem more realistic.

It was also being sold as "Brand New", but in the first two pics, it shows what looks like minor damage on the corners. Maybe they are replicas to display the helmets and they, er, forgot to put that little tidbit in the add.

From what I saw, the seller used HANS in the title but if you look at the picture of the back it doesn't look like it says HANS. Could the seller "simply" be using the acronym for head and neck restraint system? I have to believe that HANS is trademarked but I don't see a TM register on their website.
The tethers are screwed in with what looks like a sheet metal screw, aren't ours riveted? This is clearly a cheap copy, but maybe the thread if the name isn't trademarked can't someone use it in this respect in an ad?

Nope, the Hans device uses screws so you can adjust the length of the tether.

Wasn't it mentioned in the forum a while ago that H&N assigns licenses to allow people to make HANS devices?
IIRC Sparco has such a license and someone mentioned F1 teams use others......

Just wait 'til the patents expire. You'll see these things coming out of China for $29.95.
