Rennsport III Report Thread

I was on the Starter Stand in the tri-oval when the incident occured. He drove out of Nascar 4 trailing smoke, stopped at the pit entrance, shut off the car, and it went up in flames...got this pic, albeit from a long distance. They were able to flat-tow the car away, looked like rear body-work damage, and motor of course. It was the #45 Victory Junction Gang car shared by Kyle Petty in the day.
VZ935--I was the SCCA corner-worker who got you out of your car at Turn 5--hated to see your day end that way...

If that is the one that Gunnar racing built it is not a "real" GT1. http://www.gunnarracing.com/project/...Story-1111.htm

A Porsche Lovers dream. So far I'm 3 for 3. I scheduled my wedding around the first Rennsport Reunion!
Leh, you were head and shoulders faster than anyone in the group, really impressive. A friend of mine, who is a Porsche guy but has not been to too many races, pointed you out and said "Damn, that guy is flying!" point being, even the uninitiated took notice.
I think I've looked at all my 300+ pics each day since Sunday. Friday, I raced Chad McQueen's son (slot cars) that little guy almost beat me, must be genetic.
All the 901shop cars were really nice and the green 911 with the steel wheels was one of my favorites. Too many favorite too many stories.

Well let's think back, he started Club Racing in 1999 or 2000 maybe 2001, can't remember right off hand. Then I started DE in 2004 and got my CR license in 2006. So it's been a good 5 years or so! It did feel like the old DE days at Roebling, it was nice having the "group" back together even if it was just for a weekend. Dad started 64th I believe and finished 49th and turned a 2:33, which was 3 second faster than his previous best. You finished up what, 7th or 8th?

Here is a video that I shot of the event. The quality is crap, but you can at least get a flavor for the event if you couldn't make it.
