Rennsport III Report Thread

I was fortunate enough to talk with an unassuming man in a plaid shirt in line at the Rennsport souvenir tent - Sam Posey. He said that he was not driving, but that it was an honor just to invited. Just one of many great moments during an awesome weekend!

That is the 917 Spyder Prototype. The factory museum has the engine on display there but I had never seen it installed in a car. The prototype looked nothing like any other 917.

I know that very few people at Rennsport III give a big rat's patooie about the 944's, but does anyone know how many showed up? We took 2 944's to the 13 Hour at VIR this last weekend, so I missed Rennsport. The team I was on, had nothing but trouble. We thought it was the trans, but I think it was the clutch. The other car did pretty well, got 5th in ITS. Hated to miss Rennsport, especially since we did so lousy. Just stumbled around, getting in a lot of people's way. Real bummer. In retrospect, should have spectated at Daytona.
