Ray has not had his Layton House car for long and he just put a new motor in it so I do not think it is the one for sale ... the one with the two piece rear hatch/wing .. It turned out to be a great weekend. Little sprinkle on Friday but Sat and Sunday were fantastic. Even though my gearbox broke on sunday qualifying I still had a great time.

Anyone know what caused the GT1 fire? That was a very sad sight on Sunday morning. As for the rest of the day... WOW! The racing in the 956/962 set was phenomenal. Patrick was horsing that Miller car around pretty good. And the 908/3 was giving Jim Torres a run for his money right up to his spin.
And yes, Leh is from another droving planet completely!

Cool photos everyone!
Friday was kinda gloomy but still ok and Sat. weather was perfect.
It was awesome to see & hear those cool, historical cars! Only disappointment was that 917s were nut running... And the fact that on parade laps, we couldn't go on the banking.
The drive up & down were great too, ok, trip down back home was little boring and I was tired but still...
Those 956/962s are pretty damn badass, when talking with Patrick Long (he drove the Miller High Life car), his first comments were "it so fast!", "so much power, no power steering, these are the cars when you had to be real men" etc. When a guy who's job is to drive factory race cars is so exited about the power and speed of something, you know it's gotta be pretty damn special.
Nice to meet some Rennlist faces, most of them very briefly unfortunately but still, great to see you guys.
And for the record, Wayne's bet has been paid in full, thanks Wayne!

Race Car
The man with the white shirt on the right is Klaus Bischof, director of the Porsche Museum.
The woman on the wheel is very nice and has "gulf blue" eyes
Thank you for the pictures.
What happened to a GT1, and which one was it?

I was directly behind the GT1, on the out lap their was a small oil fire on the driver's side, by lap 2 it had gotten much larger, I eventually got around him and began waving at him, he pulled off into the pits, and i think it really got going at that point. Apparently it took a while to get the fire out.

I was on the Starter Stand in the tri-oval when the incident occured. He drove out of Nascar 4 trailing smoke, stopped at the pit entrance, shut off the car, and it went up in flames...got this pic, albeit from a long distance. They were able to flat-tow the car away, looked like rear body-work damage, and motor of course. It was the #45 Victory Junction Gang car shared by Kyle Petty in the day.

Leh drove a great race, but isn't this an RSR, not a Cup as was announced?
This time I brought my 67 911S - two time Daytona 24 finisher. Here I'm taking my wife on the exhibition laps - the green car.

Yea, Leh's car is a RSR. OMG amazing. This weekend was awesome. Got a chance to get my Porsche Motorsports Bear driver's suit signed by Patrick Long, hah I was so nervous, I could hardly speak. I also got a chance to talk with Brian Redman for a couple of seconds, and thanked him for having such a wonderful event back here in Daytona. He is a very nice guy.
I'm still uploading pics, took over 600.
