100% kicking the Russian driver and sponsor off the team was the right move in 2022.
But Haas keeping the money for another 2+ years until a court gets involved, seems typical for Haas. As a reminder, same guy that plead guilty to felony conspiracy to commit tax evasion, was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $75 million in restitution.
And yet Andretti is the problem....

Lawson to Williams? Reports that it could happen as soon as this weekend.
Red Bull gives green light: Lawson on his way to Williams:
- Liam Lawson is set to receive a second chance in Formula 1. After substituting at AlphaTauri, GPblog reports that a move to Williams is in progress. This could signal an early end to Logan Sargeant's F1 career.
- On Saturday, GPblog revealed that James Vowles had been in discussions with Red Bull management, with one of the topics being Liam Lawson's potential switch to Williams. After Sargeant's crash during qualifying, Vowles had seen enough, prompting the need for a quick replacement.
- Williams is looking to replace Sargeant as early as Monza. Due to a series of mistakes from Sargeant, Williams has reached its limit. Sargeant's latest incident caused significant damage to updates, affecting the team's performance and causing additional repair work.
- Andrea Kimi Antonelli was initially Williams' dream candidate, but Mercedes has delayed his entry into Formula 1. Antonelli is expected to participate in a practice session at Monza and could be confirmed as a Mercedes driver for 2025.
- Mercedes has proposed Mick Schumacher as an alternative, but his chances are lower than Lawson's. Schumacher missed out on the Alpine seat and has been surpassed by Antonelli at Mercedes.
- Lawson, however, performed impressively when he filled in for Daniel Ricciardo, showing that he could manage pressure effectively. Red Bull is open to releasing Lawson, with Christian Horner stating:
"It would depend on which terms and if we needed him back, that we could have him back quite quickly. But we'd certainly, if they needed to drive the next weekend, be open to that."
- For Red Bull, having Lawson in an F1 seat is also ideal for evaluating the driver lineup for 2025. The battle for that spot is still between Daniel Ricciardo and Liam Lawson.
- Sargeant is familiar with his possible successor, as both raced together in Formula 2 for Carlin in 2022. Lawson finished third, while Sargeant was fourth. Now, Lawson may get the chance to outperform him before Carlos Sainz steps in for 2025.
