I'm all for exhaust upgrades as I have on some of my cars, but not the CGT.
GAME OVER.
Pitch IS perfect. Volume a little light. Sorry to put another quarter in the machine before the count-down ended. I’ve had owners come up and ask me why mine is a little louder than theirs; assuming it was stock (they have the gmg bypass now). I would agree that tinkering with the CGT exhaust note is probably the most controversial exhaust mod known to man. And, I’ve disliked most any tinkering I’ve heard. So, I understand you opinion and skepticism. I’d have the same.

Agree with that. I'm sure it's more a reflection that I can't drive I suppose compared to some but the cgt is as scary for me as any car with 600+hp and no electronic stability control that allows one to take serious liberties with and get away without issues (like in just about every other modern high powered sports car you can name). The car responds very correctly to inputs and gives a huge amount of feedback to tell you when not to try your luck - sure it demands quite a lot of attention and respect when driving quickly but not for me anyway particularly scary.

Any videos of the sound?
Simply curious.

I've never heard a video accurately portray the sound of an exhaust system, but by all means post something up. I ran my car with AWE straight pipes for the better part of a year. It was a lot of fun but gets exhausting. It's like a shout out to every police car within a 5 mile radius to come and pull you over. In my opinion the stock exhaust note is perfection. Yes it's a tad light but when the top is off and you drive by anything that reflects sound, it's a treat that you just appreciate even more. It's just a guess but the CGT was built before car manufacturers were piping noise into the cabins. Some things are better left untouched. my .02

Yeah, no offense to anyone running them but straight pipes on CGT turn one of prettiest notes ever into loud and unpleasant imo. But to each his/her own

Maybe just add an LFA to scratch the sound itch, that's the best sounding car IMHO.

Wrong forum for that.

the OEM exhaust weighs about 72 lbs. I think GMG and Tubi are the only 2 aftermarket exhaust systems? I have seen and heard the Tubi..basic straight pipes..

There are other companies such as Quicksilver, AWE, and Kreisseg (Japanese).

Personally, I like the stealth nature of driving a stock CGT at low speeds with very little exhaust noise. Less exhaust sound allows more ability to hear all the other mechanical noises: induction, valvetrain, engine, gearbox, clutch assembly, etc. And, if you want more exhaust, drop it down a gear or two!

^^I get that. I very recently realized all the other mechanical noises my 997rs's make with oem noise-levels vs the always-open-flaps bypass setup i had always run prior.

There are 2 that will mantain the same signature pitch, but louder.
1) Is to go catless.
2) Open the muffler (sounds worse than it is) and change the muffler fibre for one less dense.
Number 1 will increase power (needs a tune to remove the cel and to make everything work fine), will sound the best, but only an option for people that know they can pass emissions regardless.
Number 2 sounds very hard, intrusive destructive even, but it realy isn't. Just make sure it's a clean cut and the welder is good.
