Months ago I had posted many links to the various vendors selling complete systems with laptop, close to a year ago-
As it turns out, it seems the better route to take is putting a system together with Belauto at garageforum.org has to offer.
Same thing with the Launch X-431. I put examples of how the Ferrari owners wasted their money with the Rest Of The World models conveniently sold on Amazon. The only ones that really worked from Launch were the X431 Torque, Turbo and the high end ones made for the US and European market. These were conclusive examples from the guys with 360s, 430s, 458s doing their own clutch especially. Non of the X-431 Minis, V and V+s were able to work for them.

But when someone searches X-431, a million Amazon ads show up-so the vast majority of people ignored the US market Launch models, and they themselves do a horrible job at marketing. You can't easily find their website, and then their list of genuine suppliers is very outdated.
There is one genuine supplier I found, and once again I'll post a link. The Torque is the one I considered getting, the Turbo is practically the same in a smaller tablet.
The "V+" model sold on Amazon and eBay costs around $1200, and some places charge taxes.
The place I was considering buying the Launch from also has sales periodically. I even called and spoke to a helpful associate on the phone-for $200 or $300 more, if you have multiple cars, I would consider the Torque.
https://www.aeswave.com/Launch-X-431...20-p10072.html

Since I already had obdeleven for my Audi S3, and it's very affordable(also does Lamborghini) I got a Piwis instead for my GT3.

The reason I'm reposting this is that it's been too long to depend on the list of vendors I had posted on rennlist's Piwis threads. Things have changed in the last months, some vendors caught up to the 2020 date issue, etc.

It takes patience and research to make a decision on what to get-

JB911, I agree 100%.
I only made it through the first dozen or so pages of this thread when I got impatient and decided to pull the trigger on the VXDAS system.
While technically it works "fine", I wish I had made it through the other 50 pages before ordering.
I agree with your statement above from my (very) limited experience so far.

Maybe you could sell what you have and get another system-some people might not have an issue with the screen brightness-and some of those vendors claimed you could return(but I doubt it)

Yes I can. Within windows.

If it is possible, then I am 100% confident that my issue is with VXDAS policy, not PIWIS (as they claim).

Can anyone confirm that they can change screen brightness on a laptop running PIWIS?
Answer: Yes i can within windows.
Can i adjust brightness in PIWIS(Piwis setting)? No.

In PIWIS:

System > Diagnostic Configuration > View Design > (see 4 items for font size, modify value in the range of 50 to 180, larger value = larger font)

(and don't forget F8 Save)

Is that what you meant to make the fonts larger?

Thanx, I already had those on max, it was when navigating Win8 I was never able to change the font of directories etc. I just tried it again and for some reason it applied the changes, on to the next gripe

Check your user.properties file in workspace folder.
It must be set to 1, for development mode. If it found to be 4, it will give error.

Just started playing with 40.600.00 running on Windows 10. So far, so good. Was able to do some simple coding via the "Manual coding without rules" on my 2021 Macan. That's a first with a PIWIS 4x.xxx system.

If you were using x431 before, check out my brief overview of x431 on my 2021 992C4S -

thread #44

Very confusing to bounce between one and the other...

good stuff!

Good luck with the 992! I've been using both PIWIS and Launch for a year. Launch is faster and easier once you know where to go, but I don't think you'll be coding replacement parts to your car via the Launch (I could be wrong).
I've been trying to document things as I (or others) find them:

I also feel like enabling the matrix headlights on my wife's Cayenne is gonna require a PIWIS (but I'm still looking).

I wonder if *** disable would work for 992 as listed for Macan and Cayenne... Many differences with the Macan and 992, impressive list, I'll need to go through it carefully.

Tomorrow (attempt) to change the tach ring from black (default) to whatever... stay tuned. It was either that or go to the mall shopping with TOWMBO... easy choice
