People are willing to pay 10k over for a used GT350R right now. If you can find a brand new one for 10k over or less than you are lucky.

IF???? You are willing to put the time in calling you can get an R for close to ADM, for sure no more than $5k over. I expect the 18's to be found for MSRP as they sit on the lots for a long time.

A mustang forum member got an R for $2k ADM in Tampa in the last week or so.

Exactly, you can barely get into regular GT350 without paying an ADM. Waxer said the same " there are thousands for sale on CarGurus" line almost 2 years ago - go ahead and give them a call - offer them msrp see how that works out for you.

The gentleman that bought the R for $2k ADM bought a yellow R that has been sitting in dealer stock for more than 2 months AND paid $5k ADM for an Avalanche Gray R that he ordered - was not in dealer stock. He will have two R's. The yellow R is a beautiful car, but it must not be in as high demand as some of the other colors. I'd say if someone is willing to spend significant time, have significant patience and take a less popular color, then that someone might find one for less than $5k ADM.

All that might change in 2018 on the R's, but who knows what the production will be or the next cool car to be released.

I have 3 I'm working on between 7-10K over. I'm willing to do 5K, that is the number that seems to be the spot where parties meet. They are making them in 18, so as allocations begin to come in, the 17's will be slightly more negotiable depending on color combination and how long they have been sitting. But you are not getting them at sticker.

I hear Boss... I own a '69 Boss 429 white and have had it restored twice.
My R handles better than my Boss 9, but the Boss sounds a lot better than the 5.2!
I took photos and will post them, but I was looking under the hood of both cars and other than (ugly plastic) coolant tank in the R, it is amazing the under hood resemblance of both.

This is just a mustang it is not a Porsche. I'm happy for Ford.

Even my wife who could care less about these cars thinks that it is a nice car. And she's very objective after 25+ years of marriage.

Enjoy your cars.

I just passed a LB R to a person on the mustang forums as the timing wasn't right for me. Negotiated $5K over as it was on its way to the dealer. Kinda sad every time I think about now.

It's been many years since I've posted here on these forums. Some food for thought...

I have a '16 GT350 Track Pack, which is identical to a '17 Base model (without the upgraded electronics). Considering that in '16, only 64 of 526 R's were the base model (no radio, A/C, etc.), it will be quite difficult finding a Base R, if that is what you are looking for as a track car. Chances are, if you find an R, it will have the $3K electronics package (which adds in A/C, radio, and other stuff) making it $10.5K more costly than a base '17 (or $7.5K more than a '17 with the electronics package). This is before ADM.

The weight difference between the R and Base is now in the CF wheels, rear seat delete and resonator delete. Assuming you are willing to pay $5K ADM for an R, that give's you $12K to $15K to spend on upgrading a GT350. With that budget, a Base GT350 can be easily built to outperform an R, and have added safety features (roll bar - harnesses), upgraded MGW shifter, 2nd set of light weight forged wheels with sticky tires, etc. The R specific parts (front springs, rear bar, etc. are all readily available, as are the front splitter and aftermarket CF rear wing (OEM is way too expensive).

If you start with a slightly used '16 Track Pack, you'd have even more money in the budget.

Here's food for thought.... just to compare the market demand & desirability for some of the hottest limited availability cars right now. Plus this is just my observation & opinion:

While getting 5K over is still a tough task, from what I have been seeing/hearing- I think that an ADM of "10K or a little less" seems to be the fair enough (for dealer and buyer) going rate for a GT350R... so for example let's say an R stickers at 69K (pretty much loaded) and sells for 79K (tax/tag excluded), then that's roughly a 13% markup if the buyer paid 10k over.

Now take that 13% markup and add it to the premium of a fairly equipped new 991.2 GT3 that stickers at say around 152K.... so now it ends up as approx 171-172K due to the markup. Would you buy a new GT3 of your choice with a 20K ADM?

Makes the GT350R sound like a better proposition right? I know ADM's suck big time (believe me I succumbed to it even if at 5k over) but the R is still highly desirable, somewhat scarce, and the enjoyment of owning & driving it pays back in priceless dividends. Permagrin galore. If you can afford it then go for it... but like I said before do draw the line somewhere. My 2 cents...

And if you live in a state that there is no sales tax on private sales then it is like getting it under MSRP :-) I factored that in when I bought my RS with delivery miles and I am in it the same as new with tax. Of course there are only a few places you can do this but good if you can.

Isn't that what the R was the previous year?
