I read somewhere that R production will increase for 2018. I'm tempted to get a hellcat widebody but an R version is 10K less than that with my spec if I can somehow order one for MSRP.

No, unfortunately the '03-'04 Mach 1, was a revised Cobra DOHC 4.6.

So what's the market on a 2017 GT350R in dealer stock? 10k over?

Depends on the area. I've seen a few sell on eBay for $10k over still...but I've also heard of the random $5k and the rare MSRP deal, too. There's about to be a long lull in production for GT350s and especially Rs so it will be interesting to see where the prices go.

There is over 1000 for sale on Car Gurus right now. Hence lull.

For an R, the msrp deals or anything less than 10k ADM are still scarce and tough to secure before someone else beats you to it.... so many are still commanding or selling at minimum 10k over plus most dealers are pushing/holding tight on 15k-20k over. For example I recently saw a new Ruby Red R originally asking at 25k over so it sat for a couple of weeks there and then when it dropped to 12.5k over... it sold within a day or two.

As for my example, I'm happy & satisfied with my Race Red R (yes I paid over, but roughly 5k) and my original Grabber Blue order I declined (below).... and dealer presently wants 15k over for it and I hear a few buyers are lined up already. Anyway It's tough to accurately gauge right now if R prices will soon subside to sticker or 5k tops due to 2018 GT350 production halt especially on an R. My advice is if you are 110% comfy/feasible on paying over then go for it (but do draw a line IMO)... if not, then obviously wait it out.

A little tidbit... on Race Red or Ruby Red R's, stripes are deleted as per factory and you cannot option it with any color over the top striping.

i have a grabber blue. awesome machine. i think i paid 7 or 8 over and that was after a bunch of negotiating. i have no idea where the market goes but even at the markup level, its a crazy good machine. so mmuch fun to drive, so much fun. a great blip in that mustang is intoxicating. it rips like crazy and pulls like a locomotive.

^Congrats and that is very nice!

IMHO, anything less than 10k ADM on an R is worth it at the current market level... but only if one is comfortable spending over msrp. Same goes for the 991.2 GT3 and/or 991.1 GT3RS cars... we all know how the range of how much over they command in the present market.

Yes, this was the one I spec'd (also has the Electronic Pkg) since last June 2016 and it got pulled to build in June this year... so if it didn't take forever and ever I would likely have gotten this but I passed over it since I really like the RRR and bought it this past April with alot less ADM than on the GB one. It's tough to get an R allocation without paying out of the wazooo... so once one pops up at a good price then my recommendation is don't delay much, if financially feasible.

BTW all R wings are color gloss black... the R's just come with white vinyl protection during shipment from the factory and dealer removed during PDI.
