The cars you can use and have fun without thinking about cosmetics and consequences are the most fun. Can't wait to get mine and "brake" it in @ Sebring and Road Atlanta.

997RS4.0 - You're not going to wait for the track until you've reached the 1,000 miles recommended by Ford? You could get that out of the way in a day with a drive up Florida and back. That won't be difficult to do when you start driving - I reached 1,009 miles on day 16....

Travelling a lot the next 4 weeks. On my way from Milan to Munich at the moment. Managed to get a few laps at Monza in a AMG GTS the other day. Great fun and a good car.

Hopefully get some miles on the gt350 before track.

Got the panel gaps fixed 95% by the dealer. Looks much better. They said to me some stuff is a result of the plastic body clips Ford uses which don't hold as tight.

Nonetheles, the car is lovely to drive and the few times I've pushed it on on/off ramps it holds very nicely.

I agree with 997rs4.0 and Nizer, there's a certain beauty in not worrying about aesthetics and resale on a car this fun.

No offense as well but it's this kind of attitude that continues to allow American manufacturers the ability to slide on quality control.

Where is the break even for you on panel gaps? What dollar amount must the car cost reach for you to demand attention to detail?

Glad you got sorted out - that was the worst example i'd ever seen but now that it's fixed you can really enjoy your GT350R !

Also on a sidenote after an epic morning drive today I decided out of sheer curiosity how much MPG I could get in 6th gear at around 60mph - averaged 30mpg! (29.7 to be exact) - impressive if you care.

Traveling the interstate at 80mph I get 19.7. Best I have done is 21.0 it isn't any vette where you can get upper 20's when cruising.

That's what I expected until I went to the fuel app and reset it - got over to the right lane put it in 6th gear and cruised along at around 58mph - immediately shot up to 29mpg on the meter. Drove about 9 miles like this and it fluctuated between 28 and 30 mpg depending on speed (never went over 60mph).

I'd like to compare them all on the same day but since the GT350R is ~as fast as a GT3, it should be faster than the 911R. So I wonder how a GT350 TP would stack up against the 911R. Might be VERY close if the 350 has the same MPSC2's as the R.

I like the AMG, driven it twice now. On a small mercedes test facility in London and this Sunday at Monza. First time driving Monza and did as much studying as I could before going on track.

The car is fast and hides its weight well. Felt very stable under the high speed brake zones at Monza coming into chicanes. I left a bit on the table in Parabolica and turn 3 where you probably would be WOT.
Have two good friends that own the AMG GTS. They both live it. Somewhat practical and great performance.

Question mark on cooling. Was asked to come in after 4 laps and cool it down. These cars get some abuse so maybe they did it just to be safe?

I personally don't like the burble and popping from the exhaust. Sounds to fabricated to my ears.

I will do this comparison sometime in the spring. I will be as unbiased as possible and video the event. I can't help but believe the 911R is considerably faster and it's certainly lighter. But both are surely some of the last MT/NA cars possibly ever. Both should prove to be excellent. I've not driven the Mustang or even a regular GT350. But as many of you on this forum know I have driven the 911R. I'm certain that some of my excitement for this car was "the day" and driving in the Swabian hills. But my initial thoughts were not just about the "best" street legal 911 ever but more along the lines of one of the best sports cars ever.

Don't know and don't care. Best car I've owned to date was a 996 Cup. It looked like beat up crap but it's the car I did my first races in and did the most track laps. Life is about experiences, not things.

Well we already know it trounced the BMW M4 GTS and that car costs more than double and has an automatic ....
