2014 Camaro Z28 joining the track-day fun

There WAS more to it than numbers. The refinement, the reliability, the overall quality, the connected pure experience, race car feel. You could not say the Viper or Corvette were on the same level at all. The Corvette was still finding it's way to a decent fit and finish, still unrefined some, unreliable. The Viper was just edgy for no reason, brutish, barbaric almost. Both were fast, but certainly lacking quite a bit to a GT3.
Well they have definitely closed the gap on their shortcomings while Porsche has willingly computerized away some of the originality that made the 911 special. For those of us not caught in a Porsche stupor, we can see that you can't add all types of electronic aids and the car feel like it handles naturally and unabated.

1. Functional splitter.
2. Beautifully integrated and very functional wheel well front edge wicker.
3. Forged lightweight wheels.
4. Brakes that are as big as will fit into the wheel barrel.
5. "Z/28" forged into the rim of the wheel.
6. Huge, aero functional sills (rockers) (helps keep air from getting under the car).
7. Ceramic rotors. (and 60% lower price to replace than PCCB).
Bonus! Not centerlock!
Bonus! Trofeo R!
Bonus! Beefy new style, more rigid, brake caliper!
The picture says "Tracking, not posing (MF'er)"

Warranty on the track straight from the horses' mouth. Like Porsche but very few others!
Look very forward to your feedback. What forum is Camaro? I'm looking at the Corvette forum to keep an eye on the C7 any thing like that for theZ28?
You probably posted it before, but have not read everything while traveling.

WOW Savy that Z28 is all sorts of WIN!
Times like this really make me angry I every rod a motorcycle! ARRRRGH! I wish I could push a clutch because I would be all over the Vette or Z28...bang for buck and warranty can't be beat.

Trakcar,
Be on the lookout for the C7 Z06 variant. The Z28 is just leading the way for the new soon to be announced Z06. Pickup a Z28 use it for about 18 months and sell for the new Z06.

The C7 Z06 will be less than $100k and probably come with ceramic brakes and Trofeo R's too. The performance will probably far exceed even the new 991 GT3 as it will be probably lighter and the engine will put out between 550 to 600 HP.

" said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. "While the Camaro ZL1 offers exceptional performance on the street, the drag strip, and the track, the Z/28 is entirely focused on the track performance. The Z/28 will be too track-focused for most drivers, but offers road-racers one of the most capable track cars ever offered from an automaker."

Well, yes, but in truth, who really gives a flip about fit and finish for a track car. Reliable, of course, bottom line is how well it performs and holds up at the track. For fun day/fast day economy it's becoming more difficult to argue against outright performance. Porsche is indeed being challenged.
Right, but how many people go and buy a car straight from the showroom brand new to be a track only car. You almost always have to have something that draws you to the car initially as a personal vehicle. In fact most people still drive their track car on the street, which means the car must likable on the street and in the garage as well, making the entire package important.
Porsche is pushing a very core group of people away. I guess my point is, they will have a much easier time opting for a Viper or Vette, Mustang or Camaro than they did 10 years ago.
