What is with the paddle shifters on a manual car??? To turn rev matching on and off?? Seems like a gimmick

I like it.

Not love it because too heavy at 3444lbs and the *** is to ugly.
Not sure if that can be completely fixed but I guess I can take 100lbs out of it and paint it black.
GT3 looks 10x better, but with PDK I don't love it either.

At least this still has a clutch pedal and manual gearbox.
Stupid paddles for rev matching on/off switch but I guess you can ignore them. I wonder how much an aluminum drive shaft alone would save in weight, too bad about the V4 mode but I guess they have no choice due to government MPG requirements.

Love the sound. Love the coolers, love the price.

The steering probably just OK or numb compared to 997GT3 and probably just a bit worse than the 991GT3.

Its more like Ferrari than Porsche with its E-diff and lots of data digital stuff and great on street and good on track. As fast as a Fiat, as fast as a GT3?
It does not seem to interfere with driving pleasure a la GTR.
It has the GTR like gimmicky screens and settings but some of that stuff is nice and useful sometimes.

I wonder how the race setting would handle R compound or even slicks?

Curious what the RS will bring and curious what the Z07 will bring, but somehow for just liking a car the cheap Z51 base car is very interesting. At half price I like to test the C7 first, at triple the price I may love the RS later :-)

Front half just OK, back terrible. Must have been two designers and the one was sleeping with the other ones wife and he new it! An acceptable design if done by an excitable 3 month old puppy with a crayon taped to its tail.

Numb steering- can you guys put up with that?

Sound nice (just hate the exhausts!).

Not not much going for it for me...

Nice initial article on a test drive.

Like the improved interior and LOVE the sound of the new engine.

Highlights some of the improvements with the C7.

Now bring on the Z06 model.

is that it?

the steering seems similar to the Carrera- direct, accurate but a little numb.

hate the rear.

some of the test drivers mentioned brakes feels degraded over time. NOt good. Perhaps high performance brake fluid will help.

3400+lb hmmmmm

I am quite arty along with my engineering bent. So in my opinion yes the styling sucks.

For me you either need a run around or have a passion for a certain ride, this fits neither for me and price doesn't come near to swaying, I'd prefer to buy used or wait longer to by what I want.

Hell yeah. While people have opinions and preferences, I think the C7 is a game changer for Corvette. The C5 had good bones and did the job, but had a lot of deficiencies. The C6 cleaned up a fair number of those deficiencies and expanded the refinement and performance envelope especially with the Z models.

The C7 leaves very little to be desired, save possibly rear-end styling. The technology, integration, performance, refinement, and interior features/quality are just outstanding at any price. Factor in price and you are going to see A LOT of other sports car brand owners jumping over to the Vette and checking out the water IMHO. The vast majority will likely be pleasantly surprised.

Now, it's time to bring on the C7 Z06 and ZR1 so I can decide if I want to trade-in my C6 ZR1.

I like what Motor Trend's Lago said about the Vette: "it all comes together as one cohesive unit."

so:
-------HP Torque Weight Price
Vette 460 465 3400+ $52k
Vette* 460 465 ? $60k ish
C 2 350 287 3042 $84k
C2S 400 325 3075 $99k

*
-Z51 Performance Package ($2,800)
-Competition sports seats ($2,495)
-Magnetic Ride Control with Performance Traction Management ($1,795)
-Dual-mode exhaust system ($1,195)

sounds like a winner

I love everything about the C7, but the rear end is a bit awkward for me. But, I just had a thought. Maybe, it's the Corvette designer's way of giving the middle finger to all the cars the C7 Corvette is going to pass at the streets, tracks, and roadcourses around the world? Kind of a "Bye, bye Mr. Porsche, take a look at my ugly *** as I disappear into the horizon."

The C&D "Underbelly" video was THE best.

That's the way a intro should be done... gear head style.

Got the sense each of the driving dynamics reviewers were holding their punches... which is disconcerting.

But, cheesy looking bits aside, it's great motor at a great price... but, then again, so is the new GT3, judging from the reviews so far.

Thanks for those, Kosmo.

I'm pretty sure this post will not encourage others to reply....
In future please specify which Porsche model you are referring to when making statements like this one.
