New Corvette...
Starts at 53K but with the right go faster stuff its more like $65K - $70K I bet, but we will see.
$20K did not go very far when I looked at MTI's stuff in '08 when I wanted to buy a Z06. MTI track upgrade for current Corvettes adds up to $30K quickly.
I have not looked recently but it adds up. certainly more then the $3K Club sport and $2K LSD on a GT3RS.

Not for the items mentioned it will not cost 30k. There are not even 20k in go fast options, unless they supplant the stuff on the list. You could build a motor for almost half that, I know because I inquired with them too. Had mine built elsewhere, totally new motor all new internals, C5R race block, was still just over 20k.
Seats - 3k installed easy for good racing seats
Headers and Exhaust - 7k installed
Wheels and tires - 5k easy
Wing and splitter - 5k easy
Dyno Tune $600
But IMO you will not need the power with the DF. That money can be used for the roll bar. The C6 Grand Sport trapped the same speed as the 3.8 RS with 430 hp. This one will have over 450 hp, pretty much equal hp to the 3.8 RS.
You forgot motor install I think, but no motor stuff needed, they are good to go right?
You just added up 15K without brakes (Wheels you also need for a GT3), so maybe its possible for $20K anyway you are at least into it for $80K.
in '08 I figured I could not get a Z06 on track for less than $100K and I spent it on a track ready GT3 with 4K miles and an extra set of track wheels instead..
I bet things will be the same, except the difference will be even small, but I'm exited to see what they will do for the new Z07..

The GT3 has still been the best track car there is for the money, barring maybe a Viper ACR, regardless of speed. That's the base GT3 that started at a little over 100k. Once you get into 140k MSRP, especially for a track car, and then have to buy wheels and tires, add and install LSD and roll bar, not to mention options that could lead to the 160's,170's. It's not the best for the money any more.
The C6 Z07 or grand sport supposedly have the issues solved, but I won't believe it until more research is done. This is all hypothetical gibberish until GM has proven that they can build a motor akin to the Ls6 that would run forever if you didn't mod it too far. That's all they need as of now. Corvette brakes, other than the el cheapo 6piston Z06 steel brakes have been pretty good with a pad and fluid change, even the little ones that came on C5z's.
Two of those RS's you had for what, less than a year. One of them 6 months if that. You put money into them, 20-30k in cases, and I'm sure you didn't take all of the parts off (LSD's etc.). Various factors come to play on that. If you took the time to look at your bottom line, I'm sure it reflects more loss than you are putting on.
I don't see why guys flip brand new cars like that, by the time you pay taxes you still lost a lot of money on each car. I would target slightly used cars.
I love mine too, it used to be my sleeper, but now it's so extreme I can't sneak up on anyone the Cup Cars and ACR-X's since it doesn't look "official". You still AWD? If so, just throw some coilovers on that bad boy some drop links and a rear sway, then get a good setup guy. That is enough to run with most any street legal cars out there, assuming you have at least a tune.

On the C7, those seats are both like Zoo Landers look's, the same thing, it would not have even mattered which one they called what. I think the DI motor is heavier than the LS, but after all the weight savings to still make heavier?
Right, that's what you get for optioning it out to the max and selling during a GREAT RECESSION..........

The first RS I had for 26 months and it had 18k miles. The second one I bought with 800 miles and sold it with 4000 after 3 months to make room for the 4.0. I traded them all in so only paid sales tax on the difference. I should have bought the 4.0 new. I did not lose much on the mods. Less then you think.
I can get my money back for the 4.0 today. Maybe even put total depreciation on zero since I bought the first RS...
But if you look at the 700-1000 a day we spend going to the track the car is the least of the cost..
Running a 90k corvette won't change that. The fuel and tires might be more if anything.
That looks sick! I think I recognize your car from GoracingTV kicking some *** in TT love it!
I do have some ZC turbos from UMW and Kevin's tune, Miltek exhaust, Just barely put some coilovers, Tarret top mounts and rear drop links but still have to get a good set up on it.

Eddie just got wood from that pic.

Brakes, cooling, seats, roll bar, aero at a minumum. Suspension also if you want it to handle the power out of the corner..
RS really only a roll bar is needed.
So go to Chevy dealer, pay $60-$70K and start tearing it apart and install all this stuff voiding any hope of warranty?
I see more Corvettes breaking down than Porsches in these parts.
Yeah, I can barely stomach Porsche dealers and they at least pretend to try.
Driving feel you get used to and going fast is fun. But the value part? Mods will quickly put any Corvette over 100K and only 3 year warranty compared to 4 years Porsche or even better CPO, no mods like me and you keep all warranty.
The main problem is it's a Chevy with Chevy dealers, warranty and resale value. Yes they go very fast.
Looks like they poked 2 holes in the seat and called it a day, same bottom useless cushion that you cant take out at the track.

i didn't say it's cheap
just watching Fifth Gear: Corvette Grand sport converable. 73,000 GBP and laugh out loud poor fit, finish! I haven't seen such bad things in the past, the Sat nav is hilarious in being so primitive, the genuine carbon stick on fabric , trip computer that 20 years old, final comment by FifthGear... 'its been built with no love and attension'.... hope this new one has moved on!!!
Looks like Chevy plans to steal a few ideas from the Porsche playbook:

Agreed on both counts.
I'm sure its better but the latest Impala sedan was still described as a typical rental car on all levels by the last car test I watched or read.
Huh?
Why the limitation, does it need a special mechanic to keep running?
New car dealers just write the order and then hope for warranty right?
