Pretty funny the biggest thread ever in the 997 GT2/GT3 section was about a new Corvette. Haha.

Is there a delete option for the tacky sting ray on the side of the car?
I agree that the new c7 is a true World class sports car However I wish that the designers had copied more Ferrari styling and added. fewer boy racer elements . The only color that I like the coupe in is the dark gray it softens the lines and all the black plastic blends in better .Unfortunately in my opinion it will not stand the test of time like the original 1960's Stingray or from the same era the Jag XKE . Even the electronic gauge pack is over the top Why all the complexity A digital speed reading is nice but who wants all the other stuff

Got our shop R&D car about a month ago. 3LT with Z51, lowered as much as we could on the stock lowering bolts. Changed the wheels to HRE P101's in brushed gold.

No paint issues, diff was full (we checked as soon as we got the car), I was able to drive it around for a couple of hours before the snow really hit. Initial impressions, it's far more refined than any C6, the LT1 makes big torque right from initial throttle roll in. At in town speeds, rev match is uncanny. The interior is leagues ahead of a C6, but that goes without saying. I found the standards seats very comfortable and supportive, IMO, with a harness, they'd be just fine at the track.

I wasn't a fan of the styling when I saw the original magazine articles. I've done a complete 180 since seeing it in person. I really like it now, I even like the back.

We'll be trying a bunch of mods on it to see how it responds. It made 409 RWHP on our dynojet, stock. We'll be putting A/R long tubes on it in the next few weeks, then dynoing it with and without a tune, after that I think we'll give heads and a cam a try.

Probably sell it in spring seeing as we put a deposit on a new Z06 last week.

Thanks Gents! Went out on a limb when I chose them. Very happy with how it turned out.

Beautiful C7, Namala! Love the wheels.

On the styling, I'm coming around too, even on the back. I was following a red one a few months ago on the highway for over 20+ miles. As he slowly pulled ahead over the miles, I realized the rear looks like a Stingray from the distance. The body color edges at the top of the rear curve down the side, so it looks like a Stingray flapping it's wings(or whatever they're called on a Stingray) from a distance. Check out the rear of a C7 and imagine it a quarter mile ahead on the road. It's actually pretty crazy looking with a bright color C7 as the blacked out sections of the rear blend in and all you see is the bright body color. Definitely very unique looking and noticeable.

Default Reported issues and resolutions...

From the Corvette forum, early owner reports of "teething" problems seem centered around electronics (infotainment screen, HUD, etc.), rattles, fit and finish issues, etc.: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...ns-thread.html

47 pages so far. Can't find any reports there about flogging one on the track yet, but it is winter in many parts of the country and maybe I don't know where to look on that forum...

Plenty of excitement there about the C7 Z06 announcement, with opinions split about the FI on the new LT4 engine and the awesomeness (or not) of the optional 8-speed auto trans.

If they fix the initial production issues and throw som Z06 parts at the Z51 we are good to go. Just need to find a dealership that doesn't make me barf and a local speedshop.

Tom,

any surfing at Black's/Bird Rock/Cove in your history?

I'm a UCSD alum and long time Mex surf camp owner.

great post.

I'd prefer a German engine for the next car I buy (Cayman).

still, a nice crate LS3 will work..... and the complete kit from Scott at Renegade (right down to the last bolt) is about 8.5 K.

but, have the oiling problems been solved for the LS engines?

I've just had a short stroke LS7 and 200 mph (Porsche) transmission built for my 968... hopefully driving by April 30th.

but just for street/interstate cruising.
