Saw this. Numbers similar to 991S. Comments a bit biased towards the C7. Too bad.
Now using my gt3 as DD. 3 more DE events planned up here in PNW. Then more rain and colder. Will have c7 in 3-4 mos. and likely will run weather mode frequently till broken in. Use SUV during our rare snow/ice. That's the plan.
Corvettes suck, they all blow up its just a matter of time
If urs hadn't blown up yet, drive it harder
Sincerely,
The man who is sick of saving his car every race weekend
I'm with Randy on this one. I have lost 2 tires to blown Vette motors dumping debris on the track. Going to have to show me the new engines are better.

I saw a Ferrari after it bounced off 3 walls at the end of the back straight at Mosport. Car in front was a 997 GT3 RS that just blew a coolant hose.....
Not a pretty sight, driver and passenger both taken to hospital.
Have seen my share of Vettes as well, Turn 4 induces enough lateral acceleration for a sufficient period of time to produce oil starvation in a Z06.....

Dry sump oil in the z51 package to mitigate against oil starvation .
I had my coolant pipes welded done in jan 13 along with the 2 sharkwerks pieces in my 07 GT3.

Not saying GT3's don't have issues also, my coolant fitting blew during the 2012 OLOA and was lucky no other cars were injured. This lovefest for the C7 is just like the one for the new 991GT3 but IMHO I feel they both have to prove their merits and reliability on the track not some puff articles by auto journalists.

Agreed. The cars seem to always get glowing reviews when they first come out.
We will see when the rubber hits the road around the country and people start pushing them hard on a regular basis how they stack up.
Thanks. Don't know much about the prev gens and z06s
2006-2009 were the most prone to oil starvation consequences, then GM took some measure to mitigate the problem , but there are other{s) that wlll hopefully be addressed with the C7.
On the newer 2009+ Grand Sport (manual), Z06, and ZR1, they got 10.5 quart dry sump systems that fixed most/if not all of the oil issues. I pull in excess of 1.5g in some corners with my slicks on my Vette and have for a few years without issue.
I agree though that the proof is in the pudding. I hope the new LT1 turns out to be bulletproof for very aggressive track work and the upcoming Z06/ZR1 engines are also bulletproof. In the meantime, you have the 100k powertrain warranty covering your butt.
FYI, read the owner's manual for you guys getting the C7. Apparently, GM recommends 15W-50 Mobil 1(I believe) if you are going to be tracking the car.
