Starting a thread is to celebrate everything we love about the Macan - unequivocally one of the most dynamic and versatile vehicles in existence.
I find there can be more complaining than appreciation in this sub and I'd love for this thread to balance that out.
Things I love about my Macan:
1. It's a great road trip car, especially when rear space is needed
2. It's no 911, but it's fun on twisty canyon roads
3. It's a great camping and dog vehicle
4. It's capable enough off-road to have fun
5. Above everything else, I love how versatile it is - it can go from sporty sedan to off-road capable at the click of a button
Yesterday I travelled to a beautiful and remote resort at the foot a lake 5k ft above sea level (I live at sea level) that can only be accessed by a rough forest service road.
This road is not suitable for regular cars. You need 4x4 and height and it's over an hour of climbing treacherous road.
To get to this road, I first drove for about an hour and a half on a newly-paved, twisty canyon road with little traffic.
The contrast of driving fast on a twisty road, touching a button and then tackling rough roads was a highlight that reminded me why I love this 2017 I've owned since 2021.
The dumbest decision ever by any corporate entity (rivaled by “New Coke” and “Bud Lite”), was to launch the absolute best sporty small SUV/crossover, loved by your entire market, your best selling model…
And not plan on a second model, instead kill it completely for an aspirational EV that is NOT being well received.
Well done. Then again, this is the same brand that once tried to kill the 911.
Nice wheels! Fender flares look good too - where did you get them?
I agree with everything you said about the Macan. A genuinely comfortable and unassuming compact SUV that handles like a sports car. My GTS spends most of its time running errands and hauling family around, but having the ability to attack twisty roads and participate in autocross events once in a while makes this thing a real winner.
For me, this thing is worth every penny based on how excited I am to drive it, regardless of what I'm doing that day.
The interesting thing is, I didn't like SUVs. I used to prefer station wagons.
Eleven years ago I moved to a place that has terrible roads where an SUV is unavoidable.
The Macan is the one SUV that I appreciate because it truly feels like a sports sedan.
Since I hesitantly bought it, I've learned to appreciate it so much.
Not long ago I contemplated trading for a Turbo GT. But then I can't tow and might not use it off-road. And I like the pano roof and the airplane-like cockpit. And the PDK.
And yes @Carlo_Carrera, paint job is nice but using the car as intended takes priority.
Thank you @GTS2021. Wheels are replicas. Wheel arches are TechArt replicas that were briefly made but no longer available.
I love that it was an easy way for me to get my foot in the door with the brand. Porsche has always been aspirational to me and a CPO Macan was an easy way for me to get started. As for the vehicle itself, I love that it generally flies under the radar and doesn't attract too much attention to itself, especially in Dolomite Silver. Having said that, I find myself standing in the garage and staring at it often. I think it's a very good looking SUV. It's also comfortable, sporty and practical year round. The only negative I've found so far is it does have a few more rattles and noises than the Acura RDX I traded in. That car was solid as a rock on the interior.

@Terry Adams I just noticed you have Natural Leather Espresso.
When I bought mine, it was between the PP I bought and a Turbo with Espresso.
I love that interior and it must look amazing with Chalk. Would you please post some pics?
@tygate I love the sloping rear section of the Cayenne Coupe but otherwise, the Macan is hard to beat in terms of design.
@reloader-1 it's a travesty, not only because it was replaced with EV but because both Macan and Cayenne seem to be designed as an afterthought.
I remember reading an article about everything that went into designing the Macan. It was a deep study and we can see the results of that effort. We can also see the results of the EV version.
The only car I'd ever replace this Macan with is a Turbo GT and frankly, it doesn't make sense for my use case.

No pics today, sorry, got appointments.
It's a black leather to the eye. Very thick, why the pics won't do it justice.

I'll look for it. Hopefully it's still out there.
But this gave me the idea to share articles and videos on the Macan here.
This video helped me the most get excited about buying a Macan.

Your point about wagons triggered my reply here. I was all over the map in my decision for my next car. Seriously from MX5 to M2CS to M3 to Macan, Cayenne, GX550, Land Cruiser. All over the place.
Keep in mind that my wife dailies a 2018 Macan S and loves it. We have a long history of VW/Audi products including b5, b6 S4 Avants and many GTIs.
My wife crystallized it for me by noting that I love fast wagons. For me, the RS6 is way too big (same with the E55), as is the Cayenne. My perfect car would be an RS4 Avant. That's when it clicked: the closest thing to an RS4 Avant is a Macan GTS (or S). The RS4's engine, the B8.5 SQ5's chassis, the old S6's transmission, wrapped in a small SUV body that is more like a big hot hatch or a slightly chunky wagon. Build of my GTS starts on 12/15 with delivery in Feb/March. We'll be a 2 Macan 1 911 garaga.

Exactly.
I've had two C4 S6 Avant and a B7 S4 Avant.
Never had an All Road but love those too.
Comically, the Macan Turbo reminds me the most of my old E39 M5 but on stilts, with AWD, and PDK.

I resonate with this too. My '23 Macan S is my first Porsche, though I have extensive experience with the brand from transferring cars for a local Porsche dealer while in college. The bug bit me then, and I was finally able to make it happen a couple years ago. I've owned 1/2 a dozen BMW SUV's include an X5M, as well as several 3 series BMW's and the Macan is the most fun and most rewarding to drive day in and day out.
