OK so in trying to install my first few mods and specifically the backup LED pods I had my first real use of the 431x Launch Mini Pro. Whilst I'll deal with the mods in my build thread, I did want to point this out here as it's dealt a lot with whether the Launch Mini could or couldn't etc.

So reading the wiring diagram for a 2018 Macan (latest I have) and assuming the wiring code hasn't changed I tried to find a blue wire coming out of the backup/fog light housing. To my surprise (and that wasn't the only one today) I didn't see any blue wires but 4 black wires and one brown. Knowing that brown is ground, I now have 4 wires to decide which one is the reverse light. So I ask my friend who's shop I'm using if he can just start the car, put it in reverse whilst stepping on the brakes to make sure the car doesn't move. To which he replied, I'm not sure why you spent all that money on this analyzer... OF COURSE ! Connect it up and presto the Mini Pro activates the backup lights! SWEEEEEEEEET! But no voltage on any of the wires.

Now for the challenging news, whatever could be done easily has obviously been discarded by Porsche as being too plebeian. So instead of just running 12v to the lights or LEDs, in this case, they run some sort of PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) circuit so I'll have to find another way to determine when the LED is activated and steal 12v from that. More reading needed... but the Launch Pro Mini was a GREAT help!

As to the access panel for the oil drain, to my horror, what I assumed was a (even a thin) metal pan, is plastic . Useless for anything more than keeping some dust off but definitely not a skid plate in even the remotest of terms. If it's to save weight why bother.

A lot going on at home now so it might be a few days or week before I get back into this. But very happy with the 431x so far.

Good to know you are already getting good use out of the unit. When you find time to play with it some more and go through the data reads, that if it will read your battery data then it will also program in new battery data-- keeping fingers crossed.

Thanx *****, no bi-directional stuff yet, but it recognized the unit and enabled/disabled the lights so feeling very confident. Also the number of parameters accessible through the "external light" part is pretty exhaustive.

Mark, it did say it does battery registration which was one of the key items on my list even though I won't be needing it hopefully for 5 years. But I didn't want to spend this much cash and not have it do something elemental. I have a small window of time tomorrow so I'll see if I can start on some of the changes. I'll update my build page.

Thanx again

The backup lights should be on the trailer wiring and be a switched 12volt. Of course you would need the hitch option or add the parts for the control box/wiring.

The bottom panels are there for aero and fuel economy.

Of COURSE! Why didn't I think of that and yes, I have the tow option and was just going to pop to dummy plate off to see whether I needed the 7 or 9 pin connector. It takes a 7 pin connector (etrailer is a good place to find towing etc. accessories fwiw)

Thanx Todd!

Any news on coding, siberian? Been following your modding for a few. My Macan arrived on Friday and it’s tough to resist pulling the trigger on a Launch (and one of those Joyeauto PCM 3.1 CarPlay kits).

Hope the pups are all better. Ours is almost 15 and getting slow.

Alas not much work on that front. We got 9 inches of snow in the past couple of days and in the middle of this Olga's (my skid steer) hydraulic connector snapped off spewing fluid all over the driveway, then family issues with the imminent death of my mother in law (at 100), travel and festivity cancellations due to CV... so no alas I haven't progressed on that front. But need to do this, so as soon as I do I'll post. Thanx for the nudge

I"ll chime in here. In addition to coding on my MY20 Macan S, I can confirm it works on 718's as well. Coded 1 touch flashing from 3 to 5 flashes on my MY19 Boxster S just yesterday.

Is there any way to enable the tail lights to be on as part of the DRLs? I was able to do this on my RS5... TIA

Default Remembering Stop-Start Setting Coding

I have stop-start configured so that it remembers the last setting. Here's the coding screens I have:

I'm assuming it was an exercise in service to others as the 2020 Macan's Auto Start/Stop button works. Meaning once pressed it retains the setting. BTW what's the "Code Tiger" refer to? Current configuration moniker (like Yosemite on a Mac)?
