I read this thread about a year ago. I thought for sure that GR was a fictional character created by a Rennlister for winter amusement, or maybe a troll.

Am I now to understand that someone has actually met this person, and he is not fictional? I guess I'm gullible, but that strains my credulity.

Yeah, I've met him . . . he is not fictional. I cannot make any regard to his driving history except what I have personally seen. Seems alright to me, though. Maybe he was on his best behaviour for us, who knows? I don't worry about that kinda stuff until a problem emerges.

What's an Aprilia? Is that a bike? Who makes it? Post pics of the Ducati. I'm not a rider, but I certainaly can appreciate such a fine bike.

The Aprilia is a two-stroke 250cc v-twin street bike made by, Aprilia. In Italy. The Duc is a four-stroke 900cc v-twin, two-valve street bike. They are about opposite in torque and powerband. Hard to go from one to the other on the track.

Maybe it's that I'm in San Francisco now, but it seems more plausible now that GR is non-fictional. I'm actually a bit disappointed, though. The fiction seemed stranger than fact.

Well, I think there are a lot of factors with the original post and replies that have brought this thread to a rather unhealthy head. I chose to introduce myself here because it was popular, I must admit. And I think I did right -- I've gotten to know a few folks, sort of. I have enjoyed every poster so far, even when what they posted could have been more positive. Those that know me don't necessarily 'love me', but at least they think I am okay. Unless they are lying to me. Lol.

WOW -- FAST Ducati. The Aprilia -- is that mostly a street bike, as compared to the Ducati? I know that Ducs are a very trackable bike . . . my friend Dito at www.gotbluemilk.com has taken some AWESOME bike pics (check it out -- it's an awesome website with beautiful pics).

Anyway . . . I'm glad to have 'met' met another lister. I wish there was a better place to get to know you all . . . if there is, send me the post link.

"I always do double clutch up and down shifts on every car I drive."

Ghettoracer

Hmmm, sums it up for me. Anyone else here use that technique?

Double clutch??? I thought that was something you did for an old Sprite or MG? Sorry . . .I hope not to insult anyone or anything . . . but why would one double clutch a newer vehicle? Could it be that he meant heel-toe? I'm lost, sorry. NO offense to anyone . . .just trying to understand that statement. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong??? When I upshift, I get into the power band first, then upshift when it feels right (I am truly a seat-of-the-pants driver -- the rpms talk to me, so to speak). When I downshift, I blip the throttle between the shift in an effort to match RPMs. Please let me know if that sounds wrong. I don't think that it is. But heck, I can learn, no worries.

...except for in the video he posted. Reminds me of:

"Humperdinck: Tomorrow morning, your men will escort us to Florin Channel where every ship in my armada waits to accompany us on our honeymoon.

Buttercup: Every ship but your four fastest, you mean. Every ship but the four you sent.

Humperdinck: Yes. Yes, of course. Naturally, not those four. "

Cool

You never know, maybe he usually drives a very old truck with an unsynchronised gearbox?

BTW: Nice avatar, mr Hammerwerfer

Cheers,

I'm on dial-up (yeah, yeah . . . I'm lame, what can I say, lol) . . . what was in this video? Where's the silly excerpt from? At first I thought you were talking about Englebert Humperdinck. Lol.

I'm sorry, but there is no one to blame but GR himself for that. I don't see anything changing either, despite him sending you here to fight for his honor.

George . . . I was not sent here to defend anyone's honor, and I am not attempting to defend one such thing. I'm just chewing the proverbial rag along with everyone else, and taking in the feedback. Whether or not GRs reputation remains as it is will not be something I can expect to change, nor am I really trying to change it. I make comments based on what I see, and as I said, I wait for the feedback. I have enjoyed this thread more because I have actually had a chance to talk to folks about things other than the initial post subject. If there is another thread I can go to instead, to enjoy my experience with this newslist, please feel free to post the thread URL.

So what's this about your ITS car under construction? That would interest me more than this other stuff.
