I also almost worked for the CIA. Really.

not at LA show that's too late in the year for testing at the roar for Daytona...
the racers will want their clubsports in oct/nov to prep for the roar and do a pre test shakedown; I bet they will start building them right after the august break for immediate shipment at the end of September by airfreight for those that want it quick or by boat for nov delivery for others.

certain people on this forum have explained what the next GT4 will be and it has been confirmed to me by others who have not spoken here but are in the same position...

Makes sense.... Would be impossible to start testing in the new GT4 Clubsports, without revealing the street car first....!! Not sure where that puts us with regards to timing of the big reveal....?!?

In terms of your second comment— come on then: what motor is driving the new 4...?? Put us out of our misery...!!!

two options are left:
  1. a factory version of the BGB special (same engine but with X51, plenum, IPD and tune)
  2. severely detuned GT3 991.2 engine; possibly with extra cat/exhaust systems to meet regulations
both have technical/financial pro/con and I guess the Porsche accountants will have decided by now

After that spyder video I feel like both these options are wrong. The exhaust note doesn't sound like the 4.0 or the X51. Unless Porsche is messing with us.

i think messing with us, or the cars(spyder/gt4) will have different power plants, or the clubsports will have a different power plant than the road going car......I know what I heard, and I know what Ive been told is going in the next clubsport.

i suppose it’s not inconceivable that the Spyder and GT4 will have different motors, but it would fly in the face of what has gone before: both the 987 Spyder & Cayman R had the same engine, as did the 981 equivalents.... It would also be mighty costly to produce 2 entirely different motors for the 2 cars.... Again— in terms of the GT4 racing series, aren’t most of Porsche’s competitors now turbocharged...??

yes, most, and they are all basically gt3-lite cars, and thus the reason the GT4 has to step up.

The exhaust setup also looks identical on both of them, which doesn't prove anything but it would be odd to have an entirely different kind of engine use the same exhaust setup. With all the flat 6 NA engines they've always linked both sides at some point to reduce some of the unwanted frequencies. We can't really see enough of the exhaust to be sure, but it's another thing that adds to the unlikeliness.

Yes, a turbocharger would attenuate those frequencies, allowing use of separate mufflers.
Could the GT2 style vents on the leading edge of the front wheel wells be another clue?
