If it's just a sensor why aren't they just unbolting it from the box and replacing it. Rubbish. The synchro teeth Aka dogs, are snapping off the idler gears.

Very interesting, I wonder if anyone on here knows why? Maybe the explanation is easy.. like production has stopped or something. Or maybe there is something else more insidious?

Maybe they are all getting their trannies swapped as preventative maintenance!

correct, and i have actual proof. now if some can cut a $9000 check i can provide another proof.

FYI: I went to #PECATL two weeks ago, and they were still running GT4s. And, the #PECATL web page still shows GT4 Experiences still available.

BTW, it was a lot of fun, and I really liked the kick plate.

I was told yesterday they rotate cars out and GT4's gone. They are expanding facility also with additional skid pads and autocross .

I was at Barber in January and they had just taken the GT4s out

Was at VIR all weekend and, with a 4/16 build and 4k total miles, was halfway expecting 3rd gear to go away, but it did not. Only one other GT4 there and he had no issues...If this is a prevalent issue, like it seems, we should see more failure reports starting about now with track weekends going.

BTW: one non-Porsche person asked me if the GT4 was more powerful/better than the GT3 - I said "of course, that's why it has a higher number"

Also, I was getting an alignment at my dealer in NC, and asked if they had seen any GT4 transmission failures and they had not.

My car is done after 26 days
Had a small hiccup as the transmission cooler on the new unit was damaged in transit... Porsche should really step up and get this transmission packaged better!

When looking for a GT4, I asked my dealer about the fleet used at the Porsche school at Barber. He said these most likely eventually go to auction, and be sold "as new" because they have not been titled. It will be interesting to see a hundred or so "new" GT4s come on the market with several thousand miles already on them. I think most of them were yellow and early builds, which seem to be resistant to the 3rd gear issue.

When I was at the school a few years ago I asked what happens to the cars. I was told most of them are sold. I was tempted to take a photo of as many VINS as I could, but never did.

I wonder if they must have some type of "fleet" or "demo" designation. I also wonder how they were broken in (under 4K rpm for first 2k miles?)

I highly, highly doubt that.
