Best Track Times in a GT4
#1471
New (revitalized) race track here in Texas - Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur. One of the most flowy and smooth tracks I've driven on next to Watkins Glenn. Much more fun that COTA. This time will be beat by someone quickly.

Hi - first season with my GT4, still learning how to drive it fast. Anyone here willing to share their times via Track Attack? I run Autobahn CC, Road America, Mid-Ohio, Gingerman, Blackhawk (planned).
I'm @dvdt on Track Attack. Thanks!!

So, I was thinking....I would like to add "Track Guides" for each course. This thread has a lot of helpful content thanks to everyone's posts and video shares. If you have created a track guide, or found one on the web you recommend, please share with us! I will hot-link it to the track's heading in the thread. I personally have found many IRACING track guides to be extremely helpful - so if you have found a good one, share it too! The other day my friend was struggling on his first solo laps at NOLA. So, I made this guide for NOLA. It is not perfect, and shows many driving errors but he said it help immensely. Thanks! Matt

Not sure how closely the iRacing GT4 model matches real-world, and iRacing has an older scan of Mosport, but the PCA Sim Racing series (https://pcasimracing.com/) just published a detailed iRacing hot lap video for the GT4 at Mosport:

This is the schedule for the GT4's in season 5: https://pcasimracing.com/series-5/
It's pretty hard to get an overview of it from looking at the website, but if you sign up (it's free) they'll give you all the info you need.
This is the Rennlist "mega" thread on iRacing (it focuses much more on general iRacing equipment discussion, not much about racing series): https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...ng-thread.html

I don't have a GT4, but 3 of my track buddies do. Being in Norcal we frequent Laguna, Sonoma and Thunderhill. Late last year my friend hit a 1:35.6 at Laguna, which is the fastest I have ever seen a GT4 on street tires. Car has MSC 2 way suspension and re-geared gearbox, using RE71R tires. Everything else is stock outside of brake pads, harness, and the usual safety stuff. Pretty amazing time for that car.

Brand new MPSC2's made this too easy at PITT race in July 2020 before the AER qualification started in the morning. Pitt is my favorite track, and I'm pretty sure there's some more time out there.
That said, i was amazed that my 2nd lap showed a 1:56.38 on the brand new tires on the first session. (however i didn't use that as my best lap time because logging was at 1hz.) Could the first few laps on MPSC2 be that much stickier?!!?
The logging below was my 2nd session and was at 10hz and should be accurate and trustworthy. If you haven't drivin PITT, I recommend it !! I left time on the table so the time shouldn't be too hard to improve upon.

High Plains Raceway - 1:58.62
2016 Cayman GT4 - Dundon Headers, Tarett Engineering suspension bits, Verus canards, Salter uprights, RE-71Rs in stock size
Fastest lap starts @ 10:30 in the below video...I think we will hit some 1:56s before the end of the year with some of the forthcoming plans...

Well, y'all waited too long to improve upon my laptime @PITT - so I did it!!
Got to get the GT4 on track before the end of the year for a ChampCar race. Weather was a cooler which helped. Same tires, 1:54.78
This laptime has room for improvement (maybe 1 second), but the weather was almost perfect. This could be a hard lap to beat. But let me know when it's done so I can come back!!

Road America 982 GT4
This is one of my favorite threads on Rennlist. I'm guessing most would rather see a single GT4 thread on lap times than separate 981 and 982 chassis threads.
Will work on a better data and video system over winter. Used a GoPro Hero4 mounted on the luggage bar.
My fast lap was 2:52. No where near the current fast time posted in here.
Weather was cold, wet, and little sun. Temps started each day in the 30s and only warmed to the upper 40s.
2nd HPDE event in the GT4 and I'm loving the car.
Ran a few sessions in the rain and so long as you go up a gear, there is little drama along the wet line into turns, and surprising speed on the straights.
Car is 100% stock (going to stay that way).
Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2
Instructor was Peter Thermansen. Phenomenal Coach. Cleared for Solo Intermediate after this run.
Didn't push past 7K RPMs, 8K red line of course, short shifted most straights and kept it up a gear on most turns to help traction in the cold and damp conditions.
Max Speed into braking zone for turn 1 was 142.
Max Speed into braking zone for turn 5 was 133.
Max Speed through Kink 11-12 was 119.
Can't wait to improve my time next year.
Enjoy the fall colors.
