981 Spyder Database
#691
appreciate the help but am almost wishing i hadn't even flagged this as an issue. If there is a database, i expect it to be accurate. My carrara white spyder which was sold to me via a porsche dealer with a clear demarcation of options is not reflected accurately in the database on this site. If the database is tied to noncurrent info that is a good clarification. But if the database is held out as current it is not reflecting most of the options my car came with. It flags the fire extinguisher but doesn't account for major options like 18 way seats, PDLS, light design, etc.
perhaps there is slight misunderstanding on the "Database":
There is the official Porsche Dealer Build Sheet Database, which is hopefully always accurate, although - as stated above - it does not include all built Spyders and their configurations .
And then there is the "981 Spyder Database" which was kindly started by s2ktaxi in November last year. This database is a personal Excel Sheet built up from scratch by s2ktaxi and thankfully shared with us just for reference and with no demand for full accuracy. He spent many hours by manually typing in each and every (!) VIN into the Porsche Dealer Build Sheet Database and transfering any showing up Build Sheet into his Excel-File. There is no macro or automatic way to do this ! So there is always the possibility to transfer something wrong. And if the build sheet was not available he used other sources to fill in the gap as good as possible. Seems, that he did not quite catch the configuration of your carrara white Spyder (sorry that I mixed it up with Silver...).
So lets see the "981 Spyder Database" here just as a helpful source of information, provided by an entusiastic rennlist fellow.
Thanks again to s2ktaxi for all his hard and persistent work on this database !

Hi s2ktaxi,
browsed through the Build Sheets after a few weeks of other "stress" and found following "new arrivals" (better late comers):
2062
2098
2222
2238
2908
Seems that 2910 is the last known Build Sheet so far.
In the German PFF now also the overall worldwide 981 Spyder number was revealed (officially from Porsche AG): 2486 Spyder (including all pre-series builds)

found today two more newly published build sheets:
2066
2836
Hope, you will find some time to update and publish the Database

Has anyone been able to confirm how many 981 spyders were produced? From what the spreadsheet says there are 801 in North America, is that accurate?

Hi Afshin,
I posted the only officially confirmed number of all produced 981 Spyder before (2486 including all pre-series builds). How many came to North America is not yet published. I tried to follow on for me with s2ktaxi's database and scan sometimes the Porsche Build Sheets and Carfax. My latest list shows 841 "confirmed" VINs for North America (last one ...2910).
@JAM2, your build sheet showed up. You are one of the 841 ;-)

This is so cool!
Like I did for the 987 Spyder, I'm beginning to put together a database of the Spyders built to date for the North American market
Updated Jan 22, 2016...
Now, you can do your own analysis

Fotojoh, welcome to Spyder ownership! Would love to see pics of your new baby once you have a chance.
Yes, the database has been an invaluable resource. So much great info and so many different ways to compare and contrast it. Can't imagine the hours spent putting something like this together. Big debt of gratitude owed to s2ktaxi.
