^^ OEM cage would definitely help retain value over an aftermarket cage. If you ever want to hire it out let me know I only need a cage bolted in for 2 weeks of the year so I'm going aftermarket for about 3-4k.
Do you have any PICs and will CAM locally approve it since it's FIA approved?
Was also hoping to use my GT4 in Targa but wanting to keep it factory. Did it require removing the door trims and modifications to the dash?
Hey Roders I had a good look at Jim Richards bolt in cage and he kept the doors and dash stock but it was a tight fit, the interior behind the seats and above the engine was removed to give them more space. He told me Freak Motorsports did it for him. it looked good.
Hi Roders (there's two of you?), when you order the Porsche OEM cage it comes with German DMSB certification papers in compliance with FIA regulations and the certificate number has the car's VIN number on it. That is why I wanted the original cage with paper work and ordered it at the time I ordered the car. I figured there would not be many GT4's out there with full original homolgation paper work unique to the car. That paperwork is apparently sufficient for CAMS as it has the unique vehicle identifier. CAMS called me and said they would issue an interim log book if I was doing Targa High country last weekend so I assume all is good with them, though I still await the log book.
I finally got a dry decent run in mine at the track yesterday for a couple of laps.
I must say these things are faster than I thought. I managed a 1.45.6 @ Phillip Island yesterday which is damn rapid for a road car on road tyres (Pirelli Trofeo R's)
Attended the November Burrows Drive Day at Eastern Creek today in the Porsche GT4. I have done a couple of running-in trips in it, racking up 500kms of very pleasant driving. Today was its first day in anger and it's a good thing.
Two Youtube clips here:
The last clip has some notes in the description about my initial thoughts.
The day was sponsored by Lamborghini Sydney and I got a 20 min road drive in a Huracan LP610 4wd. Very smooth car and great tranny compared with my Gallardo. BUT, I came away still enjoying the more visceral experience in my G more, so happy about that.
They had a couple of outrageous Aventador SV's there as well. They are amazing looking cars, especially the spider. All that expensive carbon on the front, back and sides and would scare the sh*t out me around town though. Still, the sound is to die for!

Thanks mate. Good advice indeed. I am thinking of getting 19" wheels to increase the choice but will be doing Bathurst with the Cup 2's. It's only regularity and you can't go below 2:37 so no problem there. I have a lot of experience with Yoko's and so sorry they don't make big diameter tyres but will give the Trofeo's a go next up.
We have 3 x GT4 doing the Bathurst sprint on Trofeo R's (myself, Mark and Tim).
I'm also bringing a set of R7 Hoosiers on 19's as well.
But judging from my time on Monday at PI on the Trofeo's I'm pretty confident of running sub 2:30's on Trofeo's - aiming for a 2:25 on the Hoosiers. (I can run 46's @ PI in my Prod Touring EVO X and did a 2.30.2 in quali at 6hr this year - so with the GT4 a full 1s faster at PI now I'm pretty sure I can run sub 30's on road tyres).
Hi Snowman. I am running a 2008 Gallardo Reiter GT3 in the sprint event and the GT4 in the regularity on Saturday and Sunday. I'll be in the PR Technology garage and look forward to meeting you guys. Back in 2011 I ran in 2:34 in my then Porsche 964 (god I wish I still had that car
). Hoping to get close to 2:20 in the Gallardo and maybe 2:18......I'm a bit older now (63) and time does weary us. Just so looking forward to the whole mountain experience again...taken in large doses and in anger!

Still thinking on putting a full cage in mine so I can eventually do full Targa's in the GT4
Received the CAMS log book in the mail today. No problems getting it with the Porsche OEM cage; just submitted the paperwork and NO time wasting inspections, certification required. Good on you CAMS for being helpful and practical.
