Good chance mine will be getting the treatment early next year. Last track day at COTA is Dec 19th then it could go under the knife. The only thing I want to look in to is the shortening of the gears in the 7spd manuel, Hopefully there is a solution to this.

I cannot seem to find this anywhere, so is the 4.5L only available for the GT4?

Thanks, I must have skipped past that in scanning 30 pages of posts.

Thanks to Rick, and burnergt4, I got to experience one of these today. For anyone on the fence, or questioning, "just do it".

Well if there is one thing that's consistent among all the chatter about these it's that reaction once someone finally gets a ride in one

Great meeting you today, and excited that you were able to get some first hand seat time in the 4.5L! Happy to hear that it lived up to everything you hoped it’d be (although your bank account probably wishes you didn’t! &#128557—I think you put it best out on the drive when you said “this is what this car should’ve been from the start”.

@Rick DeMan makes a helluva car 💪🏼

Any 9A1 3.8L or 9A2 engine can get the 4.5 treatment. So conceivably you could get yourself a 997.2 Carrera S, bore it out, and have an ultimate sleeper.

While that may be true, BY FAR, the most impressive thing in in the shop was this:

interesting thought. What would a 991.1 GT3 engine look like? Would it still have the finger followers issue?

We would not attempt one of the original 3.8L GT3 engines, too many known issues.

We have done 2 of the 991.2 4.0L RS motors with great success.

Should've qualified "any 9A1" with "as far as I know".

Side note, I’ve ridden shotgun in the first 991.2 GT3RS 4.5 car when it was being developed and…wow. Just a ridonkculous amount of power out of that thing. If I did one of those the TC + ESC buttons would be taped over so that no one would ever turn those systems off.
