718 GT4?

Unless they somehow muffled/changed the sound considerably to throw everyone off during testing like these.....

But lets wait....maybe they do plan to deviate from the previous versions and the Spyder will have a different engine from the GT4.
That would fit better for marketing purposes if they do use a 4.0L N/A engine......

In other words, if they are going to keep the costs down and not cannibalize GT3 sales, use an engine that they already have in another model without changing it significantly. i.e., The simplest answer is often the right one.

I said it before from the Spyder pic from last year. The exhaust config looks like the 911.2S config. The mule uses what is available at the time and as development progresses, they will fine-tune. Day one, they had the entire body part of the 718 GTS, but now front bumper is different.
The video on the autobahn, does not sound like our 718 S, no way but from this new video, it definitely sounds more like a turbo 6 and I think it makes sense.
I think GT4 and Spyder were both a bargain on 981 (in Porsche world) being closer to GT3...

The first video shows the spyder downshifting which definitely proves it's not a 4 pot turbo.
For me it seems like the 991.2 turbo.
I so hope they put in the 9A1 4.0.
But putting in a NASP 3.8 or 4.0 can be marketed as "Oh, our GT cars will be NA as long as we can", but putting in a 6 pot turbo???
It's as if they are telling us that the 4 pot turbo was a mistake??

Yeah it's really hard to tell to be honest, the more I watch the video. It's not going WOT and it's not really above 3-4k RPM. The blip sounds crisp but then again, the 991.2 Carrera doesn't sound too far off from that. The 981 burbled a lot too and who knows what potentially detuning the 4.0 makes it sound like at low revs. The mule that's been running the NBR is the same mule that was spotted on the Autobahn per number plate. This still only gives us one mule of sound. Dunno though. Definitely not 4 cylinder.

I have a feeling this bad public acceptance of the 718 as a car is only because of the discerning folks in forums such as these and that does not apply to the real world .

Without commenting on the engine in the videos--I haven't even listened--refer back to my post on March 30: Engine in the next GT4 will be NA, not turbo. No idea which NA engine, just know it'll be NA. (No idea about next Spyder engine.)
