718 GT4?

$40k is still a lot of money... GT4 is usually a second car for most, so $40k can buy a nice tow vehicle. That said, for $110k, a 982 GT4 is still a bad *** car. You don’t need most options: Buckets, Apple car play, leather, etc. I have a bloated 981 build, but the $30k in options doesn’t make it a funner car.
You're right that it is it is still a lot of money and 40k in mods to get a mild tune, new gears for torque and shorter ratio, and fix the exhaust situation would still come up much cheaper.

I've got to say that I'm really disappointed. Sure, it looks great and of course it will be a super fun track day car, but Porsche missed a serious opportunity to change the game here. The 718 GT4 is most likely the last GT version of any Cayman, and while they easily could have made something really special, they again neutered it so their precious 911 buyers won't be upset that the Cayman is devaluing their cars. I'm actually glad I purchased my 718 Cayman GTS now, instead of waiting for this. Maybe I'll try to pick up a used one in a couple of years, but I'm certainly not running to the dealerships to see if I can get an allocation, which may open up now that the less than stellar GT4 specs have been released.

Definitely not upgrading but Chalk or Gentian Blue with Aurum wheels is gorgeous!!!!

I like the idea.
Lets see if it delivers or can be tuned.

Someone scour the internet for me please so I can see the intake manifold better because it looks like an X51 manifold but I need to see more closely because I can't tell if it's painted plastic or not; if so, then it's just a revised manifold.

Hard to believe that Porsche took 5 years to come up with "this".
But then again, they are really good at massaging in ".2" versions without cannibalizing their model hierarchy and building a parts bin car and jacking up the price by 17.3%
I'm sure there will be a ton of marketing hype... such as the "781 is 10 seconds faster around the Ring" . . . never mind its mostly due to the tires and an improvement in the track.
My dealer sent me an email yesterday with their introduction sheet and asked if I was interested in purchasing at a "market" rate. Cant wait to learn what that will be.
They emphasized aero and added that diffuser.
But no Clubsport Package for North America?
Colors are terribly bland.
No Sapphire Blue.

Since the original essence of this thread is speculation... I think this car sets up a RS version release perfectly. They had to limit the torque for the manual with the OEM tune but the engine probably has just the right amount of hidden potential to unlock. Throw in a PDK, up the power and torque just enough (mostly through the ECU), tweak the aero and suspension. Maybe some big RS uprights, CUP 2R tires and a great Ring time. Price? Maybe 120-130 range base? Profit!
The timing would align with all the rumors of a late PDK release. FWIW, Magnus hinted that an RS is coming on IG yesterday...

Yes...they could do that but with the increase in pricing then you will have a GT4 RS at the same base price as a GT3.....if they are so afraid or unwilling to give us a little bit more goodies on the Gt4 doubt very much they will do an RS.

This will maintain the model heirarchy, but by then a 2 year old 991.2 GT3 will look very tempting on price compared to a new GT4 RS, and still have noticeably more torque/Hp from a true race engine, and a used .1 GT3 will beat the GT4RS price, beat the GT4RS torque/hp, and also have a non race engine like the RS.

I keep hearing the gear box issue but how different really is it from the current GTS manual that has 405 ftlbs? Completely different box? Also, porsche has often shown this flat torque curve through the years but I’ve never seen one look like that on a dyno. Maybe just the small statistical set I’ve seen but still...
