My kids pronounced it PorshAAA when they were two...if I any of their friends mis-pronounce it --- I correct them.

Pronouncing it Porch makes it sound like you're from Saint Louis or something

technically neither are correct

in german the "e" at the end is pronounced but not harsh as in "por-sha" (porsch-uh is damn close)

for the record i say "porsch" (i've never heard anyone in Aus say porsha)

Despite knowing the proper pronunciation, you still pronounce it as "Porsh" because...?

Sorta like President Johnson always saying Vitmanese instead of Vietnamese. I understand his speech writers used to cringe when he went on camera. I would agree with those who say that it's not a question of being an elitist or a snob....there's a correct way of saying it as named by the main man himself when he designed and built them.....so why fight it?

i pronounce it wrong on purpose to upset my friend, who coincidently couldn't give a rats *** about a Porsche. I just think its funny to see him get mad and correct me all the time.

Because it is the way I always have and most people around me have. It's just what sounds right to me. Kind of like people in Great Britain say alu-minium and Americans say alumi-num

I mean, is Jaguar pronounced jagwar or Jag-you-ar? It all depends on where you're from! Get it?

So then you won't mind if I call you arrog-nut, would you? After all, I know it is a mis-pronounciation of your nickname, but it just sounds right to me, and most people around me would call you arrog-nut as well...

Porsch-uh. There is no substitue.

Wow, never knew I'd evoke such passion in the pronunciation of a name. Right on!

Hey man, with a name like Zoltan, my name's been more mis-pronounced than Britney's been photographed!

I guess I prefer to say words the way they are supposed to be pronounced in their native tongue.

That said, if someone tells me, "Nice Porsch," I don't make it a point to correct them.

No worries arrog-nut

I think if your Pcar is still on a loan, it's called a Porsch
If it's paid for, it qualifies to be called in it's full name....Porsche

Ya, you'd sound like a real *** if you said "thanks, but it's pronounced porscha!"

No worries, indeed.

I beg to differ. It has nothing to do with where you're from or what sounds right. It's a surname with a proper pronunciation which reflects its origin. Is there another part of Germany that pronounces the name as "Porsh?" Do you have any linguistic accent that inhibits you from enunciating it correctly? If you simply prefer to pronounce it as "Porsh" despite knowing it's incorrect, then that's your prerogative. I suppose it's also OK for you to pronounce "Zegg-Nah," "Ver-sayce," and Bruno "Magg-lee."
