Default White Cars, Why

White Cars. Is there a more boring shade (white is not a color), that looks worse when slightly dirty. I know there are those that like them, but I am not one.

Flame on.

I think it looks classy, and ages well. Having just purchased a white GT4 I can tell you my thought process

Black - sick of maintaining it
Red - never been a fan
Green/Yellow - too much for my liking
Gentian Blue - too dark, doesn't stand out enough
Miami - potentially too trendy, concerned I would get tired of it after 5+ years
Custom PTS colors - $10k+, no thanks.

Unlike others I think the interior is important as I will see it all the time, having accent stitching was important, and a car color that worked well with it. Red stitching + white body worked well. I see so many with grey or solid black interior, that's so boring to me.

Lastly, I think doing a flat or pearl wrap at some point would be nice.

White is the best for showing the pure shape of the car.

1) minimizes heat soak when car parked in full sun light
2) easier to match color should the need to touch up in event of body damage
3) light colors help to reveal the subtle body design architecture
4) ages well by reducing color fade
5) choices for interior colors expanded

Yes, there are other colors that look worse when slightly dirty. All of them, in fact, with the possible exception of silver.

Funny that you have a silver car in your avatar. To me silver looks like primer and is the most boring color for a car in my eyes. White is by far the most elegant and classy color to me. Even metallic white is a down grade from pure white in my eyes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Right on the money! Have 2 white cars… a white 911 and 1967 Corvette (red interior). I’ll add one to the list…

6) Hides body imperfections better than a darker color (e.g., fiberglass shrinkage on an older Corvette)

@Webfiero - Nice 1966 Coupe!

Per Google:

Some consider white to be a color, because white light comprises all hues on the visible light spectrum. And many do consider black to be a color, because you combine other pigments to create it on paper. But in a technical sense, black and white are not colors, they're shades.

OK--I confess I can't choose between the red and the white one even though I am partial to the mid-engine Porsche. So, just what is your preference???

Here's a more apples-to-apples comparison...

The white one is mine, the picture was from when I bought it back in 2016.

I think they both look good...
