Also I imagine bright sports cars are subject to more scrutiny from law enforcement and thieves. If two cars are traveling at 80 mph down a highway who does the Highway Patrol stop, the white Camry or the Python Green GT3RS? It is one of the reasons the GT3 Touring cars are so popular. Some want the performance and driving excitement without the over the top aero kit and wings. In your face is OK and so is subtle. Those in the know regarding cars, are just as impressed with and notice a white GT3 or Ferrari 488 as they are with racing yellow or lime green Lambo's. When my father use to see a flashy and flamboyant individual with out much to offer, he would turn to me and say "that guy is all sizzle and no steak" A white Porsche is about the steak, with a little less emphasis on the sizzle.
..well said

My Cayenne is white. I had been looking for some time for a Cayenne S and there just weren’t any CPO’s in my price range even with a 200 mile radius search here in the Bay Area. I have had silver colored cars for some time (Mercedes e350’s for the last 15 years) and am loving this my first Porsche.

I agree with OP. White, silver and gray are the worst for sure. Boring, bland, yawn. I mean for regular cars, who cares, but definitely not for anything some style and shape. Exotic cars, definitely not. Porsches, still no.

Life is too short to live in boring black or mundane white. Go bold or go home

It's funny how I've been tormented by colour choice recently -- that damned configurator and TYD daily refreshes.

Of course this is all subjective.

I ordered a Cayman GTS 4.0 in white last month (already locked). I chose white because 1) the Cayman looks really nice in white, shows the curves well. 2) the white and black contrast is really nice, 3) I never had a white car. I've done gray, blue, red. And I was too scared to go yellow :-) plus my wife vetoed yellow :-) ? oh and silver is boring metallic unpainted colour.

I am a bit upset that it's regular white and not carrera metallic white. Oh well.

In two months, we will see if I regret the decision :-) this thread has been reminding me how nice white can be though so thank you all

Interestingly enough the holy grail of 991's the 911 R for which only 991 were produced was only offered by Porsche in two colors, White and Metallic Silver unless you were a 918 owner offered one in the initial allocation, in which case PTS was available. The most exciting 991 made in what many are calling the two most boring colors. A white 911 R with the red stripes is the ultimate 911 IMO.

After 30 cars owned, and several more in foster care at different times, I have had just about all the colors, from plain to loud, and enjoyed them all in their time and on the vehicle in question. When I ordered my last Porsche to spec, I chose GT Silver with a Bordeaux-black interior. I wanted something classic, and classic Porsche. If that combo, or something like it, is good enough to be used by the factory for decades for special events and heritage collections, it's good enough for me.

ps. My white 911 was fun to own in Alaska, both blending in with snow during 6 months of winter, or proudly showing road grime after some fun driving.
