No worries — I removed another pin from a LIN connector I ordered and inserted it into the connector. I spliced your 12V wire to the new pin and everything worked.

I had a valid voltage reading on my instrument panel. I inserted the dongle into the OBD port with the key turned to accessory mode; after about ten seconds the dongle beeped 5 or 6 times. I removed the dongle, checked my notifications and all were extinguished.

A test drive indicated a charging voltage appropriate for an AGM battery (14.4 V). Auto start stop worked perfectly fine.

Here’s some pictures of the LIN connector. This shows the purple locking bracket partially removed. I removed it completely to install the 12V pin. Note the window where the pin will install. You must push the pin completely in so that the window is fully filled with the pin.

New 12V pin installed correctly and fully seated in the window. Purple locking bracket reinstalled.

I am very satisfied with the kit. Two things:

1. The installation instructions could be better — especially the 12V wiring instructions. Also, removal of the factory installed negative cable would be much easier with some helpful hints. I’ll fix that with a full tutorial to be published on this forum in the next day or two.

2. The 12V wire supplied with the kit could be better. It has a fusable link near the ring connector that seems very delicate. If it ever burns out you will need to contact the manufacturer for a new wire. A better solution would be a wire with a replaceable fuse as shown in the picture below. I may order a fused wire like depicted in the picture.

Question for @kingstone. What amperage is the fusable link on the 12V wire?

Thanks Schnave! Your feedback is very helpful for all of us and it's been very pleasure working on this issue with you!

And yes, we will keep the manual updated in the future and we will also upload an operation tutorial (including disassembling the original negative cable) on YouTube next week as a reference.

Regarding the fuse, the manufacturer claims that the probability of blowing the fuse is close to 0, and the service life is designed to be 10 years. However, customers can still use a 12V supply line with fusible links as long as the current is not less than 20 milliamps. In other words, the battery management module of our product has a rated operating current of 20mA.

Great innovation.

Agree the fusible link is not good and should be replaced with a replaceable fuse.

That looks pretty large compared to the OEM lithium battery and compared to the Walmart battery version that Schnave used.

I have Kingstone's lithium to AGM conversion kit, but I will wait until after my trip to install it..

Though, I will take the converter kit with me in case my battery fails during the trip. As long as I am close to a Walmart, then I should be able to get the AGM battery replacement.

What kind of trip will it be, if my Porsche Lithium LiFePO4 battery fails during the trip, and like some people have experienced, they had to wait around two months to get one.!!!

No worries, @PorscheACC Both are H8 and have the same dimensions. Just to be sure, I visited the websites of each and verified the dimensions of each (L X W x H) — 13.94 x 6.94 x 7.50 Inches. Note that 15/16” converts to .94”

And here’s @Black20199y0 ‘s Interstate battery.

You need to hook your vehicle up to an OBDII scanner device supporting Porsche vehicles and get a vehicle error scan, vejicle scan, and battery status scan.
Then, you may have a better understanding of what is the main problem..

I don’t think the AGM conversion kit has anything to do with it. Coincidental.

Could be any number of things. Here’s some other threads discussing the Engine Control Fault:

https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...rol-fault.html

https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...-workshop.html

https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...rol-fault.html

https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...old-start.html

If any of these sensors or actuators fail to communicate with the ECU or if the actuators fail, you’ll get the dreaded Engine Control Fault message.

Oh, for the simple days of a carbureted Chevy V8!

Has the fusible link been replaced in the retrofit, by a proper inline replaceable fuse?

I'm looking for a suitable replacement, but the current 12V wire is still reliable. I'll keep updated if I find one with a replaceable fuse.
