I would also paint the diffuser gloss black as well. I think it'd look really good.

Probably a couple hundred, right?

It is a good idea though and a lot cheaper than getting a new car. Luckily, the lighting in the picture is pretty extreme and with the dark-colored blue, you really don't notice the rear fascia most of the time. I'm guessing I can live with it. I'd rather put money towards my new car (the 2024 is my wife's new ride).

BTW, I had the "base" rear fascia on my other three Cayennes and it never bothered me. This new design is taking the cost cutting too far which is shameful for a super-premium brand like Porsche.

Like I said earlier. That plastic rear feels like something you would see in an entry level Honda or Kia. A base or S cayenne is still 100k plus vehicle. It has no business looking that way. But they have to reach their 20% goal profit margins.

They designed it that way on purpose, no doubt to get people to add the Design Package. That is how I got from a Cayenne S to a GTS in 2021. OK, part of the reason …

It is not too late if it bothers you too much. The sports design package and also individual pieces would be soon available from porsche tequipment. I will post some links later.

I will probably do the same with the carbon fiber interior trim.

Links to the E3.1 official exterior tequipment accessories and to the suncoast ones:

It seems they have available - for the E3.1 - the sportdesign front apron, the sportdesign roof spoiler or the full sportdesign package. Pretty sure you should be able to find the rear apron on its own as well.

I was washing the car today and pointed out the rear end to my wife (it's her daily driver) and she immediately said "you have to fix that". She also mentioned that there was no way I should be spending $3500 on new iPhones if the rear of her car looks like that. Priorities .

This is how it looks with the sportsdesign package - and the black next to it without. It is not yet available from tequipment though.

That’s a big difference. Definitely looks better! Hopefully it becomes available aftermarket soon.

They do the same thing with the standard wheels to convince you to spend on wheel options. They just upped their game a bit.

Normally I’m not particular about SUV styling but the unpainted back trim end is a bit too unfinished for me.

No question here that the painted option looks superior.

I do think the standard rear end works much better on the darker colors. If I was opting for a light color I’d probably tick the box though.

Yeah, I'm lucky we have algarve blue. You really only notice how bad it looks in very specific (uncommon) lighting. When the sun is rising and shining into my garage, you see it!

Trying to paint the texture plastic will require lots of sanding and prep works. The end result may not even hold and last after a year or so down the road.

my dealer said it won’t be cheap. Labor would take up bulk of the costs for sure.

Painting that rear piece might look a little odd too if you are not including the side skirts and around the wheels. Cheaper in the end for those that haven’t ordered to just check sport design box. Those that have ordered hopefully suncoast or somewhere will get a painted bumper option for you if it still bothers you.

I would never consider painting or filling the textured plastic. I want a new part that matches the factory part.
