I saw a sold 2024 S Monday, prepped and waiting for delivery. The blank area on the passenger side (no screen) looks…well…just too blank! My SA told me that if you get the passenger screen then the sound comes through the Bose/Burm sound system. No provision for headphones, so whatever the passenger watches will probably annoy the driver.

As posted almost a week ago:
- The update is big, it will take a dealer many hours to do one car
- In Europe it was released to dealers on the 10th of August
The base and S models delay from official day of the 26th of July is 2-3 weeks. This is perfectly acceptable and anybody sane will accept this for any car costing from 2k to 2m+ - usually a car might be delayed for 2-3 weeks just because of shipping complications.
Porsche informed the dealers beforehand - i.e when the "problem" was found - that they should not sell their cars on the 26th and inform them specifically on which week in August they will release the update. They have followed up on this and released the upgrades on the specific weeks so if you have any misinformation or even no information then it is the dealer's fault and not of the brand or manufacturer.
I really think there is no reason to loose faith in the brand or even to blame porsche on this for anything. I think the big problem - for any car manufacturer - is how the dealers decide to respond on such an occasion. I am pretty sure most car manufacturers will inform their dealers quite precisely about the problem and when the fix will come - the problem is the dealers do not do the same and they cause all problems to the customers.

I was able to physically see my S today at the dealership—she was dusty from a month at port, busy still perfect. Dealer said the update only takes 5-10mins. Just wrapped up paper work with delivery set for Mon or Tues and they finalize all the “pre-check” work they need to do on the vehicle. I’m in Texas.

On the other hand the dealers are in a bad situation:
e.g
1) You have 30 new cars in your storage that need update and 25 customers calling every day and every one of them feels special and wants his $150k car asap.
2) The update is long so 2 cars per day, you have 4-5 engineers and a garage full of cars for service
3) You can update and deliver 2 cars per day so you will need about 3 weeks for 30 cars
4) What do you do? Do you release all the info i.e we got the update on the 10th or 20th of August but please come and pick up your car on the 10th of September?
It is really a tricky situation for the dealers also from a business and communications perspective to be honest.

Finally signed the paper work yesterday. Cars sitting at Davisville are being updated at the port. Porsche system was down yesterday , so dealer could not give me precise date when my Cayenne S will show up at the dealership but I expect it any day next week.
I opted for 10 yr / 100,000 miles warranty also. I intend to keep the car for a long time and had optioned the car to the brim ( PDCC / Rear Axel , Air suspension / Technology package etc. etc.) and felt it necessary to keep the safety of factory warranty for 10 years. Dealer initially offered my a 3rd part warranty , which was about 1,000 Dollars cheaper but I went with "Porsche" warranty.
I also bought the prepaid maintenance ( This was really not a strategic decision but pay now/ pay as you go thing).
Lastly, spent some time in Cay s at the dealer and all I can say is Wow. Really well built and gorgeous.
Lastly, lastly, very relieved that Cayenne still has double sun visor. For some reason, I missed that the first time and wife was not happy and now she is back in happiness zone.

Burning Brakes
Interestingly, so far my cayenne has zero of the squeaks and rattles my 992 had. It is a pleasure to drive.
