Transfer case
I got a letter today; you should go to www.transfercasewarrantyextension.com
since porsche doesn't seem to want to send me a letter, I'm considering just taking my cayenne to the dealer to test the transfer case. I rebuilt it last year, but i wouldn't mind having them check its function.
So hows it work? I make an appointment with complaints about some jerkiness, potential TC. They look at and :1) they decide its transfer case and replace or 2), they decide TC is fine and then what? Do they bill you for the diagnosis work or what?

No, as far as i can tell its fine, but i do have one situation where its a bit jerky.
Basically on the 2 to 3 shift when the revs are low and you are barely on the gas, there is feeling of slack in the driveline. If yiu are at higher revs or more throttle its not there.
It feels to me more like the engine is lugging a bit but if i can have them check to make sure say the tc control motor is working right, that would be good.

Hello All,
mine is a 2011 dealer has agreed to replace under the warranty.
I have 30 days left but i just changed and recycled the old fluid do no symptoms.
They need to video document the conditions to complete the claim.
Who has any thoughts or old fluid lol.in the LA area

I haven't been to a dealer in easily a decade, so I'm a bit unsure of the process and who pays what if its not the item covered by this warranty. I don't really wanna pay $200 for them to tell me my TC is fine.
anyone have thoughts?

You can tell if it's fine by yourself: Does your transfer case stutter on acceleration? And that stutter goes away when you unplug the transfer case? That's what the dealer will do.
called PCNA (800)767-7243
& inquired about my coverage of this transfer case extended warranty. They looked me up & confirmed by VIN my 2014 Cayenne Diesel is covered under this extended warranty
I had to press the rep on the other line a bit because he wanted me to bring it into the dealership to confirm
I explained it is an "event" to travel to my dealership & would like to confirm based on my VIN I am covered. He put me on hold for a bit & searched some other system then confirmed yes.
The authorized dealership would have to confirm there is an issue of course but that was not the purpose of my call. It was simply to verbally confirm coverage of the transfer case warranty extension with my CD as I have heard conflicting reports on CD coverage.
based on this information and the fact I have no noticeable issue (that I can currently tell), not sure I want to change my (lifetime) transfer case oil myself
I might drop into my dealership to re-confirm at some point and maybe press PCNA for a letter, not sure yet

Would like to add, I recently bought a 2011 Cayenne S (3 weeks ago) - first Porsche ever. It had the transfer case problem when I bought it and got a smoking deal because of it. I knew the car would be under the extended warranty (until April 2021). I scheduled a diagnostic with my dealer (Porsche Chandler AZ) and they replaced it for no charge at all and gave me a loaner. I did have to wait a week for a loaner to become available but the car was mostly drivable during that time so nbd. My car still had temp tags when they did the work and they gave me no hassle.
The key I think is to make sure your car has a very noticeable issue. On my 2011 CS, if you did a full-lock turn w/ acceleration it would grind every time. Same with hard acceleration. If you have fewer and lesser symptoms, it might be a harder sell.
