So, just an update. I went for a drive today before replacing the fluid just to confirm the jerkiness when shifting from 2-3-4 and confirmed the feeling.
I replaced the fluid and added some of the friction modifier. I'm not sure how much because I wasn't able to measure it, but it was way less than 2oz of the bottle.
In the test drive afterward, I cannot feel ANY of the jerkiness in 3rd or 4th gear! Admittedly, mine wasn't bad and my wife didn't feel anything was amiss (women, right? LOL), but the fluid change had remedied my issue, for now.
Attached is the fluid to confirm that mine was just as dark as everyone else's after 67,425 miles.

I bet if you just changed the fluid alone, with no friction modifier, it would have had the same result.

Indeed. I think measured steps is a good way to approach this.
After about 10,000 miles on some Porsche oil I added a few ozs of friction modifier to my TC to see if I could feel any difference. This was added to the existing oil It was really hard to tell, but I might have felt a tiny bit of slippage (feeling like a slipping clutch on a manual transmission car) on acceleration. It was quite subtle That stayed in for another 9,000 miles - and the operation never changed. I did the fluid again (this time using Ravenol since I had a bottle sitting on the shelf - prior changes had been Porsche juice) for my 100,000 mile service. Feels fine, the tiny slippage feeling has now gone away (took about 200 miles or so) and all feels smooth and positive.
There's a few of us seeing how long an original transfer case can last - mine has 100,500 on it now.
Anybody have a photo of where this vent tube is in the firewall so I could ID it?
I just looked all over the firewall areas for the one they just installed - from up top anyway. I don't see anything new. My guess is is must terminate a ways down there somewhere.
I did a little test being a newbie to a 2013 Cayenne Base and reading all this traffic about the TC issues. I changed my engine oil 6500 km ago and changed the TC fluid. I then drove the 6500 KM, changed the oil and the TC Fluid again. Sure enough, the TC fluid was black. It smelt ok however the colour was definitely black much like you would expect engine oil to be after 6500 km of driving. The lesson I this to me is simple. Change the TC fluid everyone you change the engine oil. The Ravenol is cheap and the time is almost nothing while changing your engine oil.

The Ravenol is cheap, but someone has to find a source for the goop Porsche uses on the drain/fill plugs. I wouldn't reuse one more than once without replacing the goop, just out of fear of cracking the cover on the transfer case.
Just changed X-fer case oil for the 1st time since a new one was installed. Used the Porsche -63 fluid. Blacker than I expected after only 7500 miles. Next time it will be at 5k miles to coincide with my OCI. I hope to get 10K out of x-fer case we'll see. Permatex high temp thread sealant hand tight no leaks. New case plugs were not very tight either.
