More info on your LED low beam headlight upgrade por favor...I've already done the high beams, fog lights, and cornering markers but would like full LED's all around.
Hey guys…..This Cayenne amazes me every single trip I take it on. Hitting 65k miles today as I’m headed east in the great state of NC to visit customers and put their fires out.
I’ve covered some ground over the past month and a half rolling almost 6000 smooth trouble free miles. Did a few trips driving as far down as Clearwater, FL and as far north as Millersburg, PA and everywhere in between.
I thought my previous Lexus cars were the king of the highway cruisers but Porsche has shown me just how good of a car they’ve engineered here!
Im just u-dating this thread with pictures of the past trips along with the oil change I performed yesterday. I’ve got an appointment at the dealer next week to look at three things (battery, transfer case mount, and tailgate closing issues) before my bumper to bum[er warranty expires at the end of this month. I’m waiting to get my wife’s Panamera back before I can go in but I’ve got a big trip on the 14th headed west to Rienzi, MS so I need it for that week.
Thank you sir. Gotta love these platforms and I replaced the headlights and fogs with LED BULBS. I took out the original hid bulbs and i’ll tell you, it's a great mod!
Mmade, great write-up. I bought my 2014 CD Platinum new (109k miles now) and agree totally with your assessment. We’ve driven across the country several times and it is a road warrior. I had been using Castrol oil in it because that is what the dealers used when they changed the oil. I did it myself about half the time. This last time I switched to Mobil 1 because I couldn’t find the Castrol. I noticed the bottle of Mobil 1 you used looks like fully synthetic Dexos 1. My CD calls for Porsche spec C-30 or VW 507. I found Mobil1 ESP 5W30 that meets these specs. I may be over cautious, but does your Mobil 1 meet the Porsche C30, VW 507 spec? If so, it might be easier for me to find oil. Not everybody had the ESP.
It looks like you didn't use Mobile 1 ESP which I believe is the required oil for the diesel at least it is for my 2013 diesel

Yes you’re both correct on this. I couldn’t get the esp either so I used this as I was told it’s safe to use on the CD. I used Liquid Moly last oil change as I ordered it from FCP euro and this go around I used the oil filter I had ordered on the last go around. I’ve gotta order another round of filters so I’ll be looking into the Mobil 1 ESP online since I can’t find it in stores….. Otherwise I’ll look into an alternative oil. Now you’ve got me thinking the advice I got from the store might not have been the correct advice. I’ve gotta pick up my Panamera on Friday and drop this off for warranty work….. If my service advisor says it’s gotta be changed again, I’ll have them do it. I’ve known him for 7 years now so I totally trust his input.

Is this the Castrol you were using?
I know the ESP is to make sure the DPF stays clean but has anyone deleted the DPF and used regular synthetic oil? I’m planning on deleting the EGR and DPF next month as the warranty is up at the end of this month.
I had to ask AutoZone for the esp and they had it in the back room. I know many people use the Liquid Moly too that meets the specs for diesel. It is all expensive. I wonder if those having trouble with soot in the egr valve are using non esp oil?
Thanks. So you just replaced the main low / high combo, and not the aux high beam, correct?
Correct. I don’t use the high beams that often but the factory bulbs seem to be bright enough. I love the light combo I have now as they match perfectly and it throws a lot of light down the roads. I thought I might be getting flashed by oncoming traffic but it hasn’t happened to date!
Thats the cheapest I’ve seen it so I’ll check back with them next time I need to order it again.

They all are expensive but it’s part of owning a diesel as a daily. My friend said it best, no tune ups needed on these. Change the fluids and filters as scheduled and run it!
I lost sleep over this oil issue so I ordered two liquid-moly 4200 kits that should be here next week. I put 500 miles on the car since the oil change and now it’ll be at the dealer for the week getting the warranty work performed.
Mmade992, that Castrol is similar, but I believe mine said LL-01 instead of just LL. Castrol kept changing the labels so I had to just be sure to look for the VW 507 spec. The Castrol was impossible to find last time so that’s when I went to the Mobil 1 ESP. I also found it at AutoZone for about $35 and I bought six of the five-quart bottles which was all they had. It’s about 1/2 price of the Castrol so that’s good too. You can get the filters online or at any Porsche, Audi, or VW dealer as they are the same part. At my last oil change I also changed the diesel filter which is supposed to be drained of water every oil change and changed at 20k miles. It wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I didn’t see any water at 20k miles so I’ll probably just let it go until then. Those can be found online for a lot less than the dealers.
